ADVANTAGES:*This calculator has the important functions that make me happy, including y to the x, the xth root of y, reciprocal 1/x (you won't need to use x to the negative 1 to get the reciprocal), +/- (this function will really work on this calculator at all times), x>M (store into Memory button), 2ndF x>M (erase the Memory), RM (recall from Memory), M+ (add to Memory).*Turning the calculator OFF won't erase the Memory.*On many other calculators, the instructions will desperately need to be read but can't be read at all because they are printed so illegibly, so tiny, and so difficult to read or understand. On this calculator, the instructions are printed large and extremely easy to read but I didn't need to read them at all because this calculator is so similar to the scientific calculators that I bought in the 1980s.*The primary functions are easy to read but the 2ndF functions are a bit too small. You'll need to remember that the very important, reciprocal 1/x button, is the 2ndF of x2 (x squared) and that the xth root of y is the 2ndF of yx (y to the x).*What you write on the notepad won't be erased until you press the circular black button below the notepad. You can store away what you wrote on your notepad without erasing it.*The irritating smiley face now has his mouth connected to his eyes. Great idea. This converts this irritating smiley face from a "remember to smile today" message into a "remember to put on your rifle range ear muffs or your wireless stereo headphones" message.*I almost never see an error message while using this 2-flap calculator.On most other modern scientific calculators, I see the error message, "Syntax Error," way too frequently,telling me that I entered my numbers in the wrong order.DISADVANTAGES:*The notepad will be somewhat difficult to read. If you write with your fingernails instead of the pen tip, it will make what you write even more difficult to read. However, if you write with the back of your pen instead of the tip of your pen, it will make what you write about 10% easier to read!!*The notepad can't be detached from the calculator without permanently breaking the connection hinges. Thus, learning how to hold this calculator becomes critical. The difficulty of holding this 2-flap calculator as easily as a regular, 1-flap calculator is the greatest disadvantage of this calculator.SUGGESTION:*Make this 2-flap calculator so that the notepad can be detached from the calculator without permanently breaking the hinges.*Provide a free clamp that can rigidly hold the two flaps of this 2-flap calculator - or - make this 2-flap calculator so that the 2 flaps can snap straight into a rigid square.CONCLUSION:*I like this 2-flap calculator slightly better than my "Casio fx-300MSPLUS2 2nd Edition, Standard Scientific Calculator," which is slightly more attractive than this 2-flap calculator but makes its Memory function extremely difficult to learn how to use and extremely hazardous to use, even after you've learned how to use it.

Don't really like this one much. It was pretty much waste of money. The part on which you can write, broke very quickly. Fragile material. Instead get a Texas instrument calculator. They are durable and comes with a lot of functionality.

Great value to suit the needs of my 7th grader for school math.

I purchased this for my high schooler. Very satisfied!
