Works Great, Worth the Money for Magnets
As a casual, novice mechanic, I do not wear a special uniform when I work. A fender cover is essential to protect the car from belt buckles and riveted pants. Also, it's nice to be able to throw this fender cover on, lean against the car, and do a few minutes of work, without worrying about oil, dust, and grill kill transferring from the vehicle to my clothes. I have a late 1990s "Chevrolet C/K" truck and this magnetic fender cover seems to work well on the vehicle. I cannot imagine any fender cover staying in place on this series of vehicles without magnets. The fender cover is roughly 34" wide x 23" high (865 mm x 590 mm) when opened flat. The top 2 inches (60 mm) of the fender cover are folded over (180 degrees) and stitched, forming a 2 inch (60 mm) flap along the top edge; reducing the vertical dimension by that amount. Inside that flap are 6 magnets, each roughly 0.5" (12 mm) in diameter. The magnets are evenly distributed along the top edge, starting about 4" (100 mm) from the left and right edges. The magnets are not perfectly distributed, but average about 5 inches apart (120 - 150 mm). Even though the flap is folded completely over and stitched (180 degrees), it opens comfortably from that position. On my vehicle, the flap probably opens nearly 120 degrees. The flap provides some mechanical resistance to slippage in addition to the magnets. On my vehicle, the flap can be positioned to create a narrow perch on which tools may be balanced when not in hand; although it's no substitute for a tool cabinet or work bench. When new, the fender cover has a pungent, fresh-from-the-factory odor. Presumably this will dissipate, but you'll want to find a suitable storage location away from people and pets, until it does. Don't lock it in your back seat on a sunny day until the odor dissipates. I'm tempted to install something like an over-sized bathroom towel rack in the garage, for the fender cover, and maybe cut some plastic sheet to clip over top, to shield from dust when not in use.I only received this item recently, but so far I'm happy with this fender cover.

Luxurious automotive comfort in the garage.
Car maintenance is fun for me and this makes sure it stays that way because I won't drop a socket wrench on my fender and hate my life. The backside is a nice cushy foam material that I make sure is clean before I put it on the car itself. The finished side is durable and resilient to staining and pokes. The magnets do a great job of holding it all in place. I wish it had a magnet built in to hold tools but that probably isn't ever going to happen. I need a shop cart...

I bought three of these fender protectors for my 1956 Olds and can't be happier. They are thick and cushiony and the imbedded magnets hold them into position tenaciously without any fear of damaging the tender paint below. I look at them and think, "this is exactly how I would've designed them." Carefully laying hand tools on top of the protected fenders works so well that I don't miss the pockets that some competitors offer. You really can't put heavy tools in the pockets without compromising the grip of the magnets anyway. The surface sheds liquids and is easily cleaned. They should wear well. I think the only way to ruin them would be by gouging them with sharp tools, leaking acid on them, or setting them on fire!

NIce material, useless magnets. Returned item.
It's a nice cover. Soft and flexible but the magnets are useless. It only has 4 round magnets about 1" in diameter. It wouldn't hold onto my old chevy pickup. If the magnets can't hold on to THAT much steel, it's useless.

Weak magnets!
The mat is a nice thickness. It comes shipped with some tissue paper stuck over the "JEGS" name and the tissue kept on sticking to the letters. But most importantly, the magnets are so weak it won't hold tools or even hold the fender cover up. Good quality but the magnets are to small.

Info about JEGS Fender Protector.
I read reviews on this JEGS cover before I chose this one. The picture on their advertising shows it placed on an older Mustang. Those particular cars so have a smaller fender there. I know cuz I have one. But I also have 2 trucks and another car and I did determine that the JEGS cover would be sufficient. I like it overall and it looks good but the only problem is that the little magnets are only there so they can say it has magnets to hold it in place! They DO NOT work AT ALL! There was no attempt whatsoever of these little magnets to try to stick to metal. I even took it to our new (inside) ac furnace. In our house it's in the garage so it's super easy to access. I have a long metal measuring ruler mounted on one side of the ac unit and held in place with a MAGNET! The ruler is there just for easy access. I put this STRONG magnet up against the little ones inside the cover and there was barely any pull at all. I then further proved things here- I held the cover DIRECTLY against the bare metal ac unit and NOTHING! No gripping, no attempting to grab on, NOTHING! I now don't really understand how any other reviewers could say the magnets were ok. In fact there was some that said it could use bigger magnets and some said it was fine, but all the other brand's reviews were similar in that respect so I went ahead and chose this one. Like I said, I like this cover enough and it'll do the job, but with ZERO help from it's puny little worthless magnets! edit: At the time I typed up the above review, I didn't go back online to look at the JEGS pic. again to refresh my memory of it. I said they show a Mustang and yes, although I do have an older Mustang, the pic. is sure enough that of a Camaro. But both those older body styles had somewhat similar size front fenders so the rest of what I said about their fender protector being sufficient still holds true.
