Colostrum Supplement 1000mg, 120 Capsules, 30% IgG, Bovine Colostrum, Immune System Support

Been taking these for a couple of months. I'm not sure exactly what they are supposed to do. I haven't been sick at all so I guess my immune system is pretty good.

I have been taking this a little over a week. I take a powder in more usual morning smoothie so I switched to this instead to test it out. Colostrum is not something you typically would see an immediate benefit of, but since I have stopped adding it to my smoothie and have been getting it in a capsule I don't notice anything different. I will say the capsule serving size is smaller than the scoop at 2g (2 capsules) vs 5g in the scoop, but the standardized immunoglobulin is 30% vs 20%. Or put another way, I get a little less than 2/3rds the immunoglobulins in the capsules vs the powder.The capsules are much cheaper than the powder, are easy to take and appears to be good quality. The one down side is there is no mention of ensuring the calves get first crack at the milk - which is the humane approach to colostrum. The powder I use does state this clearly, so even though it is more expensive, I would likely pay for this difference.

I've been trying different things to get my immune system to calm down - I'm perpetually reacting to something. I think the idea here is that you can get a dose of immunoglobulin from cows as a temporary transplant of immune support. The colostrum is produced for only a short time, but it's thought that the calf (or baby) can only absorb it during that short time until their intestinal microbiome develops and begins to digest such things.Can you still get benefit as an adult? I'm really unclear on this. I know that although our digestive system breaks down proteins into amino acids and generally absorbs the free aminos, some short proteins (di/tri peptides) are selectively absorbed through intestinal walls and can be used by the body. It's also true that some are used by the intestines themselves - and eventually by the gut bacteria - so is this actually confering immunity specifically to the digestive system, even if not to the rest of our body?I've been trying this and to be honest it's hard to tell if its helping me or if the periods of improvement are due to this. At the very least, it does appear to really be colostrum- you can open the capsules and taste it. It's just very hard to say what and how much it's doing.

I started taking these as a follow up to a cleanse recently to assist in a healthy gut, since colostrum is reported to help coat the intestines. I'm also eating naturally fermented foods, like sour kraut, to build healthy gut bacteria. The Mayfair Naturals Colostrum is easy to swallow with no bad aftertaste, and the price was very reasonable, so I expect follow on purchases to continue. So far, I'm pleased with the results.
