Practical, real-world advice for ISO9001 implementation
Fred Dobb's book is exactly what I was looking for. Some of the other authors in this field make far too much of ISO9001 implementation, reading more like academic textbooks on modern manufacturing practices. This book takes a pragmatic and grounded approach to the implementation of ISO9001. It contains absolutely everything a company might need to implement the system from scratch, including example procedures, quality manual and template forms (on the hard copy version ONLY - I really wouldn't bother with the Kindle version). It is also packed with sensible, no-nonsense advice in the author's distinctive style. That is not to say that this book is a formulaic excercise in simply getting the certificate, an "ISO-in-a-box". The author is passionate about the benefits of ISO9001 as a tool for achieveing better business results and this shines through in the writing - it is, however, leavened with a substantial helping of realism. Highly recommended.

Great step by step guidance for 9001:2015 Transition
I used this book to transition our ISO system to 9001:2015. Very easy to use with step by step guidance. I found the templates and forms provided particularly useful and can recommend buying the download that goes with the book as it saved me a lot of time creating these documents. For reference this was used with a Charity specialising in recycling and reuse with 85 staff members, so although it says manufacturing and assembly i was able to transfer the learnings to our company easily. We did this without consultant support and passed our transition audit for 9001, 14001 and 18001.

A well timed and well written book
As Operations Manager for a defence consultancy, I found the advice contained in the book to be invaluable in helping me to prepare for our eventual upgrade to ISO 9001:2015.Fred Dobb has an immense amount of experience in this field, experience that he relays to the reader in a simple and jargon free manner that brilliantly draws on real life examples to illustrate his points.I cannot recommend this book highly enough, particularly if you're an end user whose business model doesn't quite fit the standard ISO requirements. Don't be intimidated by the manufacturing and assembly that is in the title!

Far more economical than courses or consultants
Helpful and easily explained if you haven't worked with ISO 9001 before. I found that using this to update my QMS from the 2008 to the 2015 standard was far more economical than attending a course or employing a consultant. The forms are also useful and you can purchase them on a download. A must have

Implement PDCA cycle, read it, do what is ...
Implement PDCA cycle, read it, do what is suggested, check it, make the work your own and yes, it does work. We have Transitioned with a leading QA organisation. The book gives a no nonsense review and the downloaded templates were a life saver for speedy implementation and upgrade for our Transition. We purchased it primarily as a template resource. Working through sections and forms one can see the links for achieving conformity. Without this, we would have missed some using outdated existing forms.

2008 in place who doesn't like to read books
If you are either creating a new quality management system or updating from 9001:2008 buy this book in all formats. This review is coming from someone new to 9001 at a company who has a successful 9001:2008 in place who doesn't like to read books. There hasn't been a page I haven't enjoyed reading, Fred is the teacher we all wished we would have had at school. It completely removes the unnesacary complexity of the standard and explains it in a very informative way.

Good read
Good guide to transition to 2015 standard. Only gripe is that Design is not included, also some of the form templates are embossed with author's name
