The green brick of joy
This really is the authentic stone. I've read about, watched about, heard about, and finally got a chance to use one of these stones at a friend's place one day. I ordered one that evening...This stone showed up in a ripped open, dirty brown envelope that had clearly been thrown around in transit. The box the stone came in was undamaged surprisingly, and the stone inside was perfect. No damage, no chips, discoloration, or anything.... Perfect.I soaked the stone for 15 minutes or so, flipped the logo side down (I just like to keep the stamps), and hit it with the diamond plate. The stone was perfectly flat already and built up a nice slurry quickly. I sharpen....This stone preforms amazing! If you use extra force, it will act more like a 1k stone, creates a uniform toothy edge, but will wear down quicker and require more and more often flattening. With normal pressure, the stone creates a really nice slurry, sharpens quick and acts perfectly as a 2k stone, refining a toothy edge very nicely. With a nice slurry, and light pressure, the stone further refines the edge, acting more like a 3k stone. My trusty old wustof chef knife is sharp! After using this stone, the edge shaves hair on my arm, and with a quick stropping, is sharp as it would ever need to be in the kitchen.I really like this stone! It's big and tall, which makes it so easy to sharpen on. It's really quite versatile depending on the pressure you use. The feedback is clean and clear, helping to find that angle of the bevel easily and consistently. All in all, this stone is great. I should have bought one years ago!! The famous "Green Brick of Joy" is the real deal, and oddly enough, it makes me happy while using it, and even happier when I use the blades I sharpened on this stone! A fantastic buy!

My favorite stone
A little weird to get used to at first and it needs a slurry to cut through the steel but once you get the hang of it, it’s a dream to use

Best price for this Naniwa Aotoshi
It's legit the green brick of joy that normally sells for $80+ elsewhere. It's an odd stone to use (even smells weird, like rubber). If you wet it and start sharpening steel straightaway, it will load up meaning the surface will turn blackish and holds on to steel particles and it'll kinda no longer sharpen the knife but will start polishing, at that point it feels like it's a piece of ice.If you want to sharpen on it, you need a course cleaning stone of some kind (nagura, diamond plates, etc) to first make a thick slurry on it, then you start sharpening, but leave as much slurry on as possible. It's kinda soft, and can grab the blade edge easily, gouging the stone.

Its called the Green Brick of Joy for a reason. Buy it already! Quit just looking at it!
The green brick is a widely loved stone that is hard to pass up on. The green brick is like 2 stones in 1. When the surface of the stone is clean it'll cut around the 2000 grit range as advertised but if you let the stone load up they are known to turn into a good polisher acting more like a 4000-5000 grit stone.I was lucky enough to find this stone on sale shipped from Japan directly and got it for $42.44 which is an absolutely insane deal. If you look for this stone in the states you're paying at least $67 + shipping if not closer to $100. Either way, this stone is well worth the money. Pick it up already! Quit just looking at it!
