GREAT rodent catcher. Pros and Cons for the plastic bait holder. It depends on what bait you use. I use thread to tie on some bait to the paddle. This ensures the trap snaps if they try and grab bait and run. I HAVE HAD paddles break at the hinge. OH, ALSO, I've have the place where the trigger hooks under the paddle get worn, which makes it tricky to set the trap. UGH! Compared to the metal bait holder, this is just a hair down in my likeable score.

Wish I didn’t have to buy these on a regular cadence, but with all of the construction going on, the newly unhoused rats have taken onto the streets into my neighborhood. FYI, these are the large traps, not the small ones for mice.

You cannot improve on the traditional snap trap! Unfortunately we have roof rats …. They have been getting into our attic crawl space. I always use these rat traps … they work, always. I’m not a big fan of setting them BUT they kill and the work. I also used these a million times when I owned a California home in a canyon … rats always got into the ceiling and walls, these traps never failed me.

Works as well as the original.I had to put 1" long staples through the bottom with the sharp end sticking up through the trap to keep the rats from escaping once they were caught

Only snap traps work for me.

I caught a big fat rat and it was disgusting but now it’s gone! I only set out 3 traps along the same wall. One was set but missed and second one did the job. I feel bad I had to kill the big guy but it was an instant death. I don’t use poison due to having outdoor critters I don’t want to make sick.

It’ll whack the bejesus out of any rat, but it didn’t trap anything unfortunately. They will just die slowly with their eyes hanging out somewhere after being clubbed by this thing.
