The book is a major work of modern Islamic thought. It deals with the thought process and intuition and how to reconcile with physical and paraphysical realities. Religion plays a pivotal role in Iqbal's philosophycal discussion on modern thought. A Masterpiece of Intellectual and Spiritual Depth, but not for any Average Reader
The Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam by Allama Muhammad Iqbal is a profound and thought-provoking work that challenges readers to critically examine the foundations of Islamic thought. In this monumental book, Iqbal delves into the very essence of Islam, urging Muslims to revisit the original teachings of the faith and reflect on how its true spirit has been obscured over time by rigid interpretations and traditionalism. One of the central themes of the book is the call for independent reasoning (ijtihad), which the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself encouraged as a vital means to understand and apply Islam in an ever-changing world. Iqbal critiques the stagnation brought about by blind adherence to outdated frameworks and emphasizes the need for Muslims to engage in dynamic thinking that aligns with both the timeless principles of Islam and the demands of the modern era. His critique of the role played by some traditional scholars, or mullahs, is sharp yet constructive, as he highlights how their interpretations have, at times, veered away from the true essence of Islam.Iqbal’s writing is dense and intellectually challenging, making this book a treasure trove for those who enjoy delving into deep philosophical discussions. He integrates Islamic theology with insights from modern philosophy, science, and sociology, presenting Islam as a universal, progressive, and rational system of thought. However, this complexity means that the book is not for the average reader. Even after multiple readings, I find myself uncovering new layers of meaning and admitting that I have yet to fully grasp the depth of Iqbal’s arguments. What makes this book extraordinary is its timeless relevance. It is not merely a critique of Islamic thought in Iqbal’s era but a guide for Muslims today who seek to reconcile their faith with contemporary challenges. It inspires readers to think critically, to question inherited beliefs, and to seek a deeper connection with the divine message. This book is not an easy read—it demands patience, focus, and a willingness to wrestle with complex ideas. However, for those who persevere, the rewards are immense. Iqbal’s vision of a reconstructed Islamic system rooted in rationality, spirituality, and the original message of the Quran is both inspiring and transformative.I highly recommend The Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam to serious students of Islamic philosophy, theology, and anyone looking to explore the intellectual legacy of one of Islam’s greatest thinkers. It’s not just a book—it’s a journey of self-discovery and a call to action for Muslims to revive their faith in its purest and most dynamic form.

Excellent Print and Paper Quality
Although it mentioned hard cover when I purchased this book and it came paperback. But book quality is so excellent that I am satisfied. Paper quality is very good. And it came with big enough font. Print is also very good. It also includes translation of Persian couplets and have a reference of Quranic Verse.
