This chair is NOT your typically poor quality you might expect from the Pacific Rim. It appears to be made in Thailand and the wood is awesome; great quality and wonderful natural "fruit wood" color. Even the hex bolts and washers used to assemble it when you get it are top notch. Not the lousy metallurgy we often see with imports. EVERYTHING about this chair is quality. Everything.The first one that I got arrived with a broken arm. NOT the fault of the manufacturer; clearly the fault of a shipper dropping the box off a platform of some kind. So I sent it back for FREE and they sent me the new chair while the old one was in transit!Don't be afraid of ordering this chair. My office is decorated out of the 1930s-1940s and this chair fits right in! AND its got the comfort and functionality I would expect of a wooden "bankers" desk chair.Finally some quality coming out of the Pacific Rim. Bravo.

A big "YES" to these chairs. I bought 4 for around my old oak kitchen table - so easy to glide in and out from the table. I did take the advice of another purchaser and did not use the casters that come with the chair....I ordered roller blade wheels (which are now offered with the chair) and I'm glad I did. They glide beautifully across the kitchen floor (I have been known to zoom around the kitchen a bit to grab something off of the counter), make no sound, and are certainly kind to my kitchen floor laminate...no scratches or stress marks. The chairs are comfortable, sturdy and are great for sitting around after a meal talking and visiting....no need to move on to another room right away. Also, when working on a project, it's great to be able to raise the chair to a higher level to give a better angle.

Don't buy!! Was damaged in shipping with numerous scratches and one broken arm which I had to glue back together. Some of other parts had gaps, wasn't sure if that was due to shipping damage or form poor manufacturing. The screw holes for attaching the back didn't match so very hard to get back on tight. Then got assembled except for arm that was drying and the hydraulic chair lift wouldn't lock so is useless, way to low. And, to top it off, the styrofoam used for packing was all shredded and made a big mess, admittedly a small problem, but on top of all the rest, very irritating. If could use, I am sure more problems would surface with time as parts worked loose.

My grandma had me purchase this for her we couldn't find this in the same color but without arms while still having the brown padding. We left the arms off of it but I am afraid it will likely weaken much quicker.

I don't know why some reviews said the seat was too hard. I bought a cushion to go with it but haven't felt the need to use it. Perhaps the company got the message over the years and improved the built-in cushion? Very comfortable, easy to adjust. Assembly was easy. We used casters ordered separately so that we could use this on wood floors without the need of a plastic mat. Getting those "after market" wheels installed was very difficult but all is well now. I've been using it for just over a month. I don't miss my higher-backed, more padded office chair at all. This is a piece of furniture that looks good in the room and is very comfortable. I do agree with other reviewers who recommend not tightening screws during assembly until every piece is in place. We followed that advice and had no problems.

Really nice design and solid built! Though it’s a wooden chair, it’s very comfortable for anyone, and is wide enough even for the ones who are a bit wider than average.Highly recommend this to everyone!

Replacement Shipment Update. Replacement arrived two days later. Good quality and had no problem with the casters this time. All in all a great product Thanks to Amazon for promptly handling my return. ____1st shipment - Upon receipt I tried to put the casters into the base with the provided piece of wood and a rubber mallet. Worked great for 4 out of 5 casters. Was a 1/2 hour trying to figure out the defect. The caster will not seat all the way into the base. The receptacle in the base is defective. I may modify this reveiw upon receipt of the replacement assuming of course that the caster/base is without defect. Time will tell - stay tuned!
