THIS CAPO DOES THE JOB VERY WELL
This Steinberger designed capo is excellent. It is very light in weight but strong because the frame is stainless steel. It takes a very gentle squeeze on the frame to release the bar, place it on the neck and put it to use. It stores securely behind the nut with a couple turns of the thumbscrew. It releases just as easily and slides up to the fret you wish to use it on and secures easily. The thumb screw adjusts smoothly and yes, it does self center as it claims and does not detune the strings. I’m using this on my mid 1930’s Kalamazoo with a hefty “V” neck. I tried my other Planet Waves capo’s on it as well as my trusty Shubb’s and both caused tuning issues. This D’Addario self centering cradle capo required no extra effort or need to finesse it to keep the guitar in tune. I’m sold and won’t hesitate to get another. I’ve read a few unhappy reviews and have a difficult time understanding why, this design is classic and Steinberger’s take on it is the best I’ve tried.

Excellent Capo
I tried this capo for bluegrass picking on my Martin D-28. It looks very well made and is easy to reposition. However, I dig in quite a bit when I pick, and my strings would occasionally buzz, even when the capo was very tight. I reluctantly returned the D'Addario and purchased a Heritage capo of the same style. The Heritage did fix my occasional string buzz, but at a very high cost. I think this capo would work well for most guitar players.

Works great!
Easy to put on and use. Not as heavy duty and the last one I had but works great.

Works perfectly!
I’ve played guitars for over 30 years and this is ‘by far’ the best capo I’ve ever owned. Can’t believe it took me this long to find one that works so well. Buy this…you won’t be disappointed!

High Hopes/Not robust
BLUF: Would not recommend this capo to someone looking to upgrade below the ~$100 range (I’m talking primarily to Bluegrass players). The threads for tightening the Capo are soft metal and not robust.Detailed: Care was obviously taken in the design of this capo. I think the latching method is a simple and elegant solution that removes a latch that others have allowing for a quick transition for adding the capo. The finer threads provide increased ability for fine adjustments of pressure (impacting intonation) compared to either a Kyser or my Page.Unfortunately, the threads are weak/soft metal or improperly matched. This was something that shifted over time and just seemed like a need for lubrication. Then it rapidly degraded to the point of being unsure if the capo was appropriately “tight” or just broken. Excellent idea, poor execution. I truly wish the outcome was different.

Superb!
Makes it easy, and no contraption on the neck. I love taking the cover off of the case because it sits in the velvet pocket looking like jewelry.

Not Suited For Guitars With Smaller Necks
(I am using a 000 sized Martin guitar)I was looking for a step up from my current Paige Capo.I like the way the Paige performs, and it is reasonably priced.I was hoping this more expensive and modern designed capowould be even better than the Paige.I was sad to see that, because my guitar has a bit of a smaller neck,I had to tighten this capo quite a bit to get it to fit properly. And, because I had to tighten it a lot, when I would go to loosen it,my hand had to work harder than it should. And I also worry that the tightening screw may not hold up wellover repeated use.I also think the price is a bit too high, especially since the Cradle Capodidn't offer me anything that the Paige capo doesn't already give me.I will say that if you are using a guitar with a larger neck, I believethat the Cradle Capo would stay in tune and do a nice job for you.

Stays on the fret without shifting!
Once you screw this capo on tight against the neck, it doesn’t shift position even with enthusiastic play, so the string stays in tune at that fret. Also the screw tightening action allows the bar to be lowered vertically pushing all strings straight down without bending any to the side, which minimize retuning after capo on. This design is for guitars with symmetrically curved necks. May not work on guitars that has an asymmetric curve on the back of the neck.
