Great for large jar size (22oz)
I had a large glass jar candle break (22oz size). I used this wick to custom cut the size I needed, then melted and poured the wax into an empty glass candle jar. It has worked perfectly. The #6 size is perfect as it melts the entire surface of the candle to allow for smooth even burn. Whereas a smaller wick would not achieve this.Rather than lose a $20+ candle, I'm now able to enjoy it.

Wick size matters!
Two years ago, the power went down here in Texas due to a winter storm and I was glad to have a few candles sitting around for warmth and light. I decided to make 1:1 beeswax and coconut oil candles for the family for the holidays instead of buying gifts. These candles provide a huge flame and no carcinogens when used in enclosed spaces. The wax itself can also be used for a dry skin or chapped lip treatment in a pinch; which can be really useful in cold weather. I saved all pasta sauce and jelly jars throughout the last few months and repurposed them for container candles. I'd like to say that my first time making candles was easy and without error, but there was quite the learning curve to get it right. My first try was with paraffin wax and a standard wick from Hobby Lobby. After a shrunken, quartz-looking ugly hunk of wax sat in the container with a tiny wick burning a crooked tunnel through the center and then extinguishing itself, I decided to do more research. From paraffin wax having similar fumes to diesel exhaust to appropriate wick size for the wax type, I took a lot of notes. The wick size chart I included here was very useful in my process and this product was the perfect size for the 3.25" diameter Classico pasta sauce jars like the one shown in the picture. I burned one to test while I made the other fifteen that I needed for the family and it seems to burn for two hours for every ounce of 1:1 Beeswax-coconut oil. With the right sized wick, there should be approximately 0.25" of liquid wax beneath the flame within the container after 2-3 hours of being lit.Use warm water to scrap off the label and then paint thinner to remove the sticky adhesive left over and presto (or should I say "Prego"), the jar is clean of markings aside from the lid. The candles were a huge hit as gifts and I've started making some for myself for emergencies. I have since ordered the #4 size wick for the 10oz, 2.7" diameter Smucker's simply-fruit jars I have lined up. I am anxious to see if the smaller wick changes the rate of fuel consumption compared to this #6 size. This product was pricy for the 30' of cord included, but it suited my needs perfectly.

Sizes are dependent on the wax you use
I've done some experimenting with these square braided wicks with paraffin and beeswax. It seems as though the two waxes are the opposite ends of the spectrum. Paraffin burns too easily, and beeswax barely burns at all. Other sources of beeswax may work better, though. I can only rate it based on what I have on hand at the moment. A #4 of this wick with only beeswax doesn't seem to support a 2-inch diameter candle in a container, despite the description for that product saying it's good for a candle up to 4 inches in diameter.. The wick will get progressively shorter until the candle extinguishes itself. EIther I need to find a better source of beeswax or I have to start working with paraffin/beeswax blends. The wick itself appears to perform well, however. I haven't had any issues with them trying to float in the melted wax, and they do seem to burn cleanly. For the #6, you will need a larger tab than I think is common - it is a fairly heavy choice.

Perfect homemade candles!
I decided to start making my own beeswax candles due to horrible toxic synthetic fragrances and dyes in commercially made candles. I bought this candle wick on recommendation from a website blog on making homemade candles. Jar and wick size is critical in getting a good burning candle. My very first attempt on candle making was a huge success. This wick is perfect for my 3" diameter candle jar. The wax I use is a 50/50 mix of beeswax and coconut oil. When burning for 2-3 hrs, the candle melts and burns evenly. No hole melting down the center of the candle leaving an outside column. This wick can be cut to any length required, minimizing waste. Trimming in between burns keeps wick burning very nicely. Definitely recommend giving this wick a try. I bought in size #4 and #6. Kare & Kind Metal candle wick Sustainer Tabs will work perfectly with this braided wick, which I also bought on Amazon.

Size matters.
This #6 square braided wick seems to work perfectly in my 2.5" beeswax candles. No tunneling and seems to burn cleanly. For reference, the #4 created a 1.5" tunnel.
