Generally speaking, no. These are pretty darn bright on the high end with no preamp/equalizer stuff applied...all you're missing is superficial static on the high end and *maybe* miss some instrument nuance in the +15khz range. I was very happy using them as full range drivers in some .1 cu ft sealed boxes I built myself. Hope I've helped!
