Worth every penny
I don't often write reviews, however this book is highly worth recommending. It has an high quality blend of accurate detailed accounts and anecdotes which gives the reader history and personal insights into the COS's.The writing style is informative but avoids being dry. The access Whipple has to very senior officials across a range of information adds to what must be the best book in it's field so far.

A new Presidential term is ample justification to reflect on what has gone before & in this revised book the author covers the history & development of the vital & pivotal role of White House Chief of Staff. Fast paced & well written it covers the modern role from Nixon through to Trump. An exciting read for all students & those with an interest in US politics.

Interesting and absorbing.
In some ways it is terrifying to believe that a Presidency succeeds or fails dependent on the effectiveness of the chief of staff.
