First purchase in my 46 years of being an audiophile I can say is a true improvement in the sound quality of my stereo vs. a difference in sound quality. Not sure if it's r2r DACs in general or this particular one that makes my stereo kind of come to life vs the previous 851n used as my DAC for the last 10 years or so. To add to maybe why in my case it is such an improvement I do have first order crossover speakers and ribbon tweeters and a tube amp. Timing errors are more problematic to me then frequency errors hence the first order speakers. I understand from reading before purchasing r2r DACs are better at controlling timing errors than the traditional modern DAC but not as good as controlling frequency so maybe that's why I am so thumbs up. Try one of these if you feel even your fancy traditional DAC still sounds like digital. This just might help in that regard. It did for me.
