DakineCarry On Roller 42L - Black Tropidelic

I’ve taken my Dakine suitcase on both road and plane trips and it is holding up great. Quality construction and fabric with many patterns to choose from. I also have the backpack which has been my workhorse for several years. Highly recommend Dakines’ luggage, backpacks and crossbody purses.

I recently purchased this bag, so I decided to take it to Hawaii for a proper test. Just got back, and the bag performed beautifully. It is very well made, and it maximizes its carry-on dimensions. It is the same size as my old bag, but this one packs better and holds more. It also has a nice sleeve for my laptop that is easy to get to. No complaints at all. I love it.

Light with a good space!!

I love Dakine products, I have a few larger size luggage from them and they are still working soil and in great condition after 8 years( avg 3 trips a year). The carry on I wish it had the rotational wheel so it can be moving straight up, like other modern carry on. Other than that, it so good so far.

I tried a bunch of carry ons. Finally decided on this one because it had a large capacity and was fairly light. I used it for a 3-week trip abroad and hated it. It's very hard to pack and zip, required multiple attempts to pack and re-pack to get it to close. It seems to have something to do with the hinge being right in the middle and that there's no "give" at the hinge spot, unlike suitcases where the top just zips open. The stiffness of the hinge section made it really difficult to close the suitcase unless the contents were packed just so. It's hard to describe, but I've been able to get a lot more into my old suitcase which technically had a smaller capacity. Wish I could return it, but the returns window is closed now. I hate it that it was so expensive given how hard it is to use. Poor value for money.

After two flights I noticed the fabric near bottom of the luggage next to the wheels is frayed. This is disappointing.

I really can't give the brand a fair evaluation. I thought I ordered a new one, but I received a used one with a defective zipper. It even came in the box the previous owner had used for return. The size was accurate. The floral pattern was nice. But I returned it.
