This is a copy, not Jim Dunlop
I’m writing this review purely as I believe the item I received is a copy and not authentic. I bought a Jim Dunlop gold capo a few years ago and it’s still going strong. A friend wanted the same one so I went back into my orders and ordered what should have been the same one, however the one that arrived was a brighter, ‘cheap’ looking gold colour. Also, and this is the important detail, there was no Jim Dunlop logo printed on the rubber. Every Jim Dunlop capo I’ve come across has the distinct logo.As this comes up as an ‘Amazon recommends’ item, I’m a bit concerned. It’s worth noting that the capo itself is usable, but not what you see in the picture and not as good quality.

Almost faultless
I first used one of these years ago and it was perfect. This version seems to have grown a bit and is just as good but a bit too long on my Fender CC60-S, though it can be moved back a bit to compensate. The spring - as before - is definitely strong enough to make sure that there is no buzz.It is my go-to Capo: there may be better ones out there but based on my own experience, I wouldn't bother with anything else.

Thought I was getting a black capo.
Listing said that this capo was finished in black - despite the illustration obviously being chrome. I wanted a black version so ordered it only to find a chrome one in the parcel. Unfortunately I needed the capo urgently so I have kept it.I have a similar capo which I found really difficult to use quickly and I ordered this one because of the reviews saying that it was easy to put on and take off even if you had arthritic hands. Unfortunately this one is also a bit hard to open up but I am hoping it will ease with use. It is however marginally easier than my old one.The capo does appear to be well made and the seller despatched the item quickly.Just be aware that you may not get a black model if that was what you were expecting.

only o.k to be fair
This is a good capo - no question about it, but on my Martin D28, strung with 12-54 it really isn't strung enough to hold the strings down sufficiently to produce good clear open notes. It's fine on my Telecaster strung 11-48, so if your looking for a capo for your electric (it is the acoustic version I'm reviewing) It's O.K - if you're using a heavier strung acoustic, look elsewhere or test one first. I will add my Kyser which I was hoping to replace does a better job on the Martin. I'm a pro musician of 30 years.

Best Capo for your money.
This is a great, easy to use Capo. The spring action makes it easy to transfer the capo from fret to fret swiftly. The Capo has a strong grip that prevents string buzz and sounds great all the way up the neck. This works great on Electric and Acooustic guitars alike. I have a Fender Tele, Fender Jag and a Gibson SG and it works on all three. However there is no way it would fit on my 12 String acoustic, and doubt it would go near a Spanish Acoustic either as the necks would be too thick. I see this as a minor problem as it is fit for purpose for what I need it for.Overall money well, well spent.

Slightly disappointed - because the spring broke - I do use it a lot but even so didn't expect it to break.

Perfect!
I love this capo! I bought it after getting frustrated at how long the screw on capos took to get on. The spring in this capo works perfectly holding down all strings with none of that nasty buzzing you get if the capo isn't working properly. It's a perfect capo for people who need to move capos quickly and accurately. I use it all the time when I perform and it's so much better than any other capos I've used in the past. Indeed, you only need to change capo with one hand, it's that flexible. It's not the cheapest capo on the block but it's so worth the money!

If you need an acoustic capo then you can't go wrong with a Jim Dunlop! The first one I owned is now 15 years old and getting a little tired so thought I'd treat myself!
