Practical Setting Test Yummy Pectin
Firstly, the sell by date was covered by a label with Easy Yummys own barcode on it. I had to peel it off and hold it over a strong light to read it. The date was in 2026 so acceptable, but why cover it up?Practical TestSince Waitrose stopped selling their own brand of pectin, my preserves have not been setting properly. After much research I bought this one.TestsBlackberry & Apple Jam (On right in photo )1.5Kg Blackberries, 560gr Cooking Apples, 1.75 Kg Sugar, Juice half a lemon, 20 gr Yummy Pectin ( 10 scoops )Result: Fairly Firm. Firmer than French Conserve but less than commercial cheap jam. O.K. for me on toast.Blackberry Jelly/Jam. ( cloudy jelly )1.5Kg Blackberries, 900gr Sugar, Juice half a lemon,14 gr Yummy Pectin ( 7 Scoops )Result: Very firm, just about spreadable. The package states 2-5 gr per Kg of fruit. My experience is that you will need more.

No good instructions
Do not try following instructions on or found from the bag - they don't work or are too brief. Resealable bag. It's a big bag. The pectin works fine after checking how much to use in a recipe with my fruits in it.

works well if you know how to use it
Used this for jam that we made from our autumnal fruit picking. Althought the pouch is resealable, you'd be better off decanting this into something airtight. The pouch is much bigger than the contents and the pectin is right at the bottom of it. This means that you're going to get covered in pectin every time you reach in to get a scoop. The included scoop is useful and measures out 2g worth. Experienced jam makers will know how much pectin they need as they cook, but newbies might find the lack of guidance a bit daunting.

Good for making jellies
This pack is 500gram so it can last for quite a while. The pectin is quite fine and easy to use. It works well for making jellies and jams. I am quite impressed by the effectiveness. The price is not cheap though.

Good value but poor packaging information
Disclosure. This is a review of a product I was sent for free via Vine. All opinions are my own.I'm hoping to try jam-making this summer, so I chose this product as some fruits don't contain enough pectin naturally for jam made from them to be able to set.I was disappointed when I scanned the QR product on the packet, which was supposedly going to show me recipes, to only reach a shop page of the brand's other products. The packet indicates that 2-5g of the powder is required per 1kg of fruit, however due to the QR code not pointing to recipes, I will need to do separate research to determine which fruits need the higher or lower amount of that range, as I believe some fruits do contain enough naturally.Weight is 250g according to website. However I was very surprised that the packet neither displays a weight or best before date, particularly as the small print below the ingredients list says to see packaging for lot number and best before date. I don't see a lot number either. I think this missing info may possibly be underneath a sticky label, which is rather poor packing process. As a little will go a long way, there could be enough for making 50-125 kg jam in the packet, so that missing best before date is rather vital.Priced at £14.99 which equates to 12-30p /kg of fruit based on the 2-5g requirement which seems a fair price. The packet instructions are fairly vague too, for instance "simmer until thickened". No mention of the saucer test for testing if a jam will set. Also "put in fridge for a couple of hours, until it is set" when you should never put hot food into the fridge. The ingredients are pectin and dextrose. Origin is Italy. Resealable packet with a scoop.

Good product
Great pectin for my homemade jams. It found it set perfectly without excessive sugar, giving my jam the perfect consistency. The 500g package is a good amount and will last for several batches. I also like that it’s a vegetarian gelatin substitute, which is ideal for plant-based recipes. It dissolves easily and works well with a variety of fruits. This product is reliable and easy to use for beginners like myself and highly recommend it to anyone making homemade preserves/deserts.
