This is a good-looking, functional tire-thumper. As others have noted, thumping tires won’t give you accurate tire pressure readings. But the sound will be different in low pressure tires, and that tells you that you should check and or fill that tire. And I note it is light enough for my wife to use.This baton could also be handy in a pinch for self defense. The fact that it is a recognized tire maintenance tool not only makes it legal in most states, but augments the fact that it is a defensive and legitimate tool, rather than on offensive weapon. I keep one in my pickup truck. A nice tool at a nice price.

This is a good-looking tire tool! They way it is packaged makes you think it is a collector's item than a way to determine tire inflation issues. It weighs in at 9.7 ounces with the tags. Not too heavy, not too light. The tires on my rig almost don't deserve to have this piece of art even near them. EONST could make limited editions. OK, enough spewing how great this looks.The handle grooves fit my hand well. I think smaller hands will be comfortable as well. Just use the leather strap to keep it well in hand. It is long enough to reach inside tires easily. Easily stored in the cab for easy and quick access as needed. The price is unbelievable for such a well-made tool. Better get one!

When this arrived it was a very hot day, and after unpacking the thumper I could smell the faint scent of linseed oil, or something very similar.Having used linseed oil many times over the past 60 years, that brought back pleasant memories. But on to the thumper, nostalgia aside.It is very nicely finished, advertised as hickory which I believe to be true. Extremely smooth to the touch I might add.As to the steel weight, well, by all appearances it doesn’t look like much. It is either a piece inserted into a hole bored in the end, or a very glorified nail with a big head. I prefer to think it is the former, but it is hard to say. It isn’t very heavy, whatever it is, so I doubt it contributes a great deal. I say this based on the balance, it isn’t weighted towards the front by much. It is magnetic, so we at least know it is steel, not lead or aluminum.My intention is to add it to the collection of old billy clubs and nightsticks I’ve picked up over the years. One more can’t hurt, lol!
