2 Year old Paint and Porter Cable 7424XP 6-Inch Variable-Speed Polisher
Since my car is only 2 years old, I chose this Meguiar's #9 Swirl remover as I didn't want to have anything too aggressive. The paint was not in too bad a shape as I always used the 2 bucket hand wash method. Just light swirling on my grabber blue paint. To prepare the surface I washed the car then used Meguiar's clay bar to remove any embedded matter in the paint. Surprising what is in there after only 2 years even though the paint looked clean to the naked eye. After the claying I got out the Porter Cable polisher. Since this is an orbital polisher it is good for anyone who is new to using a power tool on your paint. This was my first time. It was quite simple actually. I mentally divided the hood into 5 section and did one at a time putting an X pattern on the Meguiar's polishing pad with the #9 Swirl remover. I did 4 section passes on each area and then used a microfiber towel to take off the excess polish. I could immediately see that the pad I used (Meguiar's 6.5-Inch Soft Buff Foam Polishing Pad) was just enough to do an excellent job. You see, since the paint was only 2 years old I didn't need a too aggressive polish, or a pad that cut too much. So if your car is in similar condition this may be a good combination for you. This I guess is why you do a test are first and not the whole car. After I was satisfied that this was the right combination, I moved on and finished the car. If it did not do the trick, I could use more pressure, a more aggressive pad, ramp up the speed on the polisher (I used setting 5 for this) or maybe bought a more aggressive polish. I really liked this stuff. Quite easy to do and I wasn't afraid that the polish would burn through my clear coat. I finished it up with Meguiar's liquid Ultimate Wax. The car looked when I waxed it the first time. I might try topping it off with some carnauba wax, but its not really needed.

Simply Great
I am not very experienced in using a polisher but this stuff was easy with fantastic results. I have a black vehicle that's 25 years old with the original paint and it had many scratches and swirl marks mainly on the hood. I di use Meguires polishing compound first but couldn't quite get rid of the swirl marks. Rather than paying hundreds of dollars to a professional detailer I thought I would give this a try. I like doing things myself and when it comes out good it's very rewarding. So I used this on a foam wheel and went over it two times, it removed nearly all of the scratches, ALL of the swirl marks and made that black paint richer and deeper. This stuff is the best I have ever used over the years, I would highly recommend it.

Works best with power polisher
I have a 2017 Ford Explorer (black) and I had a ton of paint chips from gravel trucks, etc. on the highway. Well under the black, it's white so I got a touch up paint kit that did a great job of hiding the blemishes. Unfortunately, when I sanded the paint down it left swirls and it was very hazy. I tried some of Meguiars other products to smooth it out but none of them worked so I saw this product and gave it a try. I first just tried to muscle it with my hands but I just go tired and the swirls never really went away. I then tried a plug in polisher that I got from HB and after about a minute of working the product in and then buffing it off, it was good as new. So, for me, this stuff worked as advertised but I would add that you really need a power polisher to get the results that are promised on the bottle. I realize it all depends on the extent of the swirls so take this review for what it is -- just my experience, your mileage may vary.

Buffed out new paint well
I'm trial and error learning to do minor automotive painting. This polish worked well for me. It was reasonably priced and allowed for a significant area (about 20 sq ft) to be initially buffed. I didn't have any trouble with burning thru the new paint.

Old tech compound
This is an old school compound- that's about the best way to describe this. If you keep that in mind (that it's a compound from the old ways) then it will be an "OK" compound but if you start comparing it to the newer compounds by Meguiars, 3M or Wizards etc., it will pale in comparison. Many of the newer compounds are "time released" for a one step process (or darn close to) or they are a "One compound process" in that you use the same compound on the heavy cut pad and the medium cut and the finishing pad. Many of the newer compounds are also thicker so the pad can't sling it around as easily and it doesn't evaporate as quickly.Meguiar's Medium-Cut is a liquid grit compound (you can feel the grit between your fingers) that uses some type of oil (for lubrication?) and is pretty thin as compounds go. I had real troubles with the compound slinging all over the place with both wool and foam pads leaving little on the pad. As other reviews have said, It also dried too fast though I didn't have any troubles removing it as some others had. This product will require a second step with dedicated pads for each product. The finish it leaves is indicative of a step 1 product in a 3 step process. You will also need to have a sponge, bucket and towels on hand because it's going to sling that liquid grit all over and if you just wipe it off you may risk marring another surface. So there you have it. If you like doing things the old way (because you were taught that way or you did it that way for XX years) then this stuff will work out great for you and it is capable of delivering the same great results as the newer products. However, if you are new to compounding/polishing, want to save time and/or money than look into the newer products like Meguiars 105 and 205, 3M Perfect It series or Wizards Mystic series or their Turbo Cut and Finish cut.
