FAITH IN ACTION- A TRUE CALLING
I met Emery and his wife Margie 25 years ago in Colorado. My husband and I lived next door to them in a small town called Windsor. What a blessing to have such great friends and neighbors! I have always known Emery to be a tough, no nonsense type of guy with a great sense of humor and a passionate love for the Lord. A respected US Marine and retired Detroit cop with many amazing stories to tell! Some intense and exciting, some extremely humorous, and some very tragic. It wasn’t until I read this book that they all came to life! What really makes this book stand out is its unabashed honesty! Without any hesitation or attempts to sugar coat, it paints a very real and sometimes graphic picture of the every day life of big city cops, and the constant dangers they face while on duty. Included are the details of the triumphs, the struggles, the humor, the camaraderie, and the rigorous and grueling training it takes to make it into such an elite group of officers! The Detroit SWAT team! In addition, it also highlights the negative and sometimes tragic impact department politics can have over the lives of many officers, with little to no accountability. Some of the stories will have you laughing hysterically, some will have you on the edge of your seat, others literally in tears..but rest assured you will never want to put the book down! It will always keep you wondering what’s going to happen next! This is a great story of a young boy, with big dreams and the steadfast determination to see them through! Along his journey, he discovers the true meaning of life-Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Throughout this book, you will see the author’s Faith in Action. A true calling from the Lord! This is absolutely an amazing book! An absolute must read! Thank you for your service Emery! God bless you and your family!

One of Detroit's Finest and a man of Honor!!!
Emery Esse: Short in stature but a giant in character, courage, commitment, and conviction. A must read for all who appreciate the importance of Law Enforcement in America! The “Thin Blue Line” that protects America’s communities from chaos. A reality so very under appreciated in this generation. A man with a multi decades long L.E. career. A man who served, and served well, in the most elite unit of the Detroit Police Department. Among the most highly trained and skilled men in L.E. anywhere in America. He loved his work and he loved even more his fellow officers. A great chronicle of a life well lived! Powerful, Dangerous, Exciting, Fast paced, Humorous [the nicknames are a hoot, those for both Emery and his fellow officers], Hard to put down, and because of its layout and LARGE print Easy to read! Its a no holds barred look at all levels of police work, from his entrance into the police academy to his retirement. Its easy to see why those who served with him, with a smile on their faces, frequently called him “crazy.” Its a part of Emery that I’d never known. Emery is a Man’s man, a Soldier’s soldier, a Police Officer’s police officer, and a Christian’s Christian. A man who will tell you the truth regardless of your “rank” or “status” in life. Candid but also kind, a rare combination. A particularly great read for any considering careers in military or Law Enforcement. I’ve known Emery for 25 plus years. There was so much I didn’t know that causes me to appreciate him even more. Enormously privileged to call him my friend and brother in Christ! Pastor Ken Marr

A Fun Ride and a Must Read!
An easy, must read, whether you're a cop or not. It flows seamlessly as though you're sitting with the author while he's telling you some stories. The author is authentic, candid, apolitical, humorous, bound to the morality of right over wrong, and fully committed to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! His sense of humor may seem warped to the average citizen, but to cops, it's a normal response to the stress of the job. He does a great job of detailing the daily danger of being a cop on the street, which however, seems pale by comparison to the political landmines he had to dodge. Either way, God has placed him exactly where he needs to be, ministering to other cops. Maybe he can parlay this autobiography into some true detective novels featuring the "Sheik"?

Battle hardened Minister of God
Emery has encapsulated by means of an autobiography highlighting in brief format his tenure as a young man growing up in a rough hood, serving his country as a United States Marine, a Vietnam era combat veteran with a safe and honorable discharge followed by a distinguishing career as a Detroit Police Officer ( a Minister of God)Emery's exploits as a Detroit crime warrior entail a heroic, truthful and honest depiction of life as a Detroit Police Officer much of which is unbeknown to the general public."Alpha 2 Detroit S.W.A.T." is an exemplirary and noteworthy read. It will enable one to get a taste and to learn from the inside what it's truly like to be a big city cop. There was no fabrication. It has been credibly written in humbleness of spirit first and foremost as a Christian (a born again believer), as a tried and true Marine and a decorated Police Officer. Each of these traits I can personally attest to.Emery's testimony as a Christian and his love for the Holy Trinity; God the Father and the Son (the Lord Jesus Christ) and the Holy Ghost is evidenced by the life Emery lives. Emery has beena "Minister of God" and I will close with this. Once a Marine always a Marine. Once a Cop always a Cop and Once a Minister of God, always a Minister of God (Biblical name for a Cop, Roman's 13: 1-4)Emery's book is a must read, it's exciting, bold, courageous and stirring, It's Emery Esse, who has patterned his life after a commanding verse from the Holy Scriptures.
