Performance with a pop of colour
Great combination of the core factors - slicey thin flat ground blade, broad shape, excellent crossbar lock action, striking handles that are very grippy, and slim / flat making it easy to carry. The colour schemes put it up another level beyond the generic black/ green materials. Knives also need to be FUN !

Great knife
I purchased the blue and orange version of this knife and it looks great. This has become one of my regular carry knife lately. It's not too heavy and has nice opening and closing action (good for fidgeting). It comes sharp and I have sharpened mine a couple of times after some use. Overall I really like this knife because it looks good, it's light, and has nice action. Highly recommended.

Nice practical work knife
Seems like a really well made knife. I work in construction so a tough little knife that is priced so I can use it without worrying about it is a must. This fit the bill perfectly and when I got it I was surprised how nice it was. I love the ergonomics and action. Have never used this steel but it seems good so far. It came nice and sharp from the factory.

CJRB Pyrite vs. the Shale?
I originally saw this knife on a YouTube video from metalcomplex. It was more of an honorable mention of something new so I headed over to Amazon to check it out (big mistake!) I immediately loved the profile of the handle and blade shape so I put it in the cart to stake my claim. After several days I just couldn't get over how much I liked the initial look. Since I already own a CJRB pyrite I wondered how they compare so I hunted around for a video with no luck. Well, I bought a Shale so now you can see for yourself! The pyrite is super smooth and feels a little lighter in the hand but I love how substantial the Shale feels. As you can see in the picture the shale has a little wider blade and a little wider handle. The shale only weighs a few grams more so there is not much difference there. The lock bar is super solid on the lockup with no blade play. A little stiff as others have mentioned. It has a hard detent when you deploy the knife and when you close it but it has loosened up a little since I first bought it. It's a keeper so I won't be returning it!! It's sharp out of the box and I did find it very easy to hone the edge with my Spyderco sharpmaker setup making it even sharper!! Lots of knives out there to choose from these days but this one just caught my attention.

Love this knife.
After buying the cjrb pyrite light and reading all the reviews on Amazon and YouTube about the shale I had to have it. It does not disappoint. Beautiful, sharp and excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship. Highly recommend.

Very nice knife with a pretty stiff pocket clip and a very stiff crossbar lock.
The color of the knife is fun. It draws attention and makes people smile. The knife is super slim and the blade shape is pure EDC utility and the full flat grind is nice and slicy. I've never had trouble touching up the edge with the ARRPM9 steel. The pocket clip is pretty stiff, and when you pair that with the texture of the scales, it makes it challenging to get the knife into and out of your pocket. The crossbar lock works well, but the spring is incredibly stiff. All in all a great EDC knife. Hoping to open up that pocket clip a little to just make it easier to get it into and out of a pocket.
