Finding Out … what a great record this really is
This is a review of the vinyl deluxe version. This is, by quite a way, one of the best vinyl reissues I’ve seen in a long while, particularly at this price. The vinyl itself is perfect - flat and clean. The packaging is immaculate- very well made, with an attractive look and feel to it - I love the glossy red sleeve, extra photos on the inner sleeves, and the new liner notes by David Fricke. The sound is crisp and clear, with the right level of punch and clarity you want from TP&THBs. The bonus disc is really good and feels like value for money. In short, this is a really treat on vinyl. Not at all a cash grab like some of these type of reissues have become. Highly recommended.

Talent
Very good collection of previously unreleased material that is definitely worth listening to. The mastering is disappointing. It has been remastered but the sound is not as good as previous issues of this album. Nevertheless the material is great. Shows how talented he was. Essential for Tom Petty fans.

Another gem
This edition has several extra songs on it from the original version and I love it! Tom Petty fans need this one as there are so many great songs on it. Also, it seems to be going up in price quite quickly so buy it now!!

Could of had the extra missing track
This could have been superb had it included the duet with Stevie Nicks called I Will Run To You.

Tom and the boys "forgotten" classic
This is a brilliant collection from the liner notes to the music...of course the music is going to be amazing. The album was already a TP&THB classic to fans but with the inclusion of the second disc is propels it to greater heights. So many highlights on disc 2, even for Petty completionists. I would fully recommend this if you like Tom Petty and 70's/80's American rock and roll.Oh Yeah

Long After Dark (Premium Edition) CD’s Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers.
Some additional new tracks and a few others with versions that appear elsewhere. Highly recommended but maybe one more for the big Petty fans (like me). That aside a great reissue of the original plus some bonus tracks. 😎👍🏼🎸🎩

As good as it gets for value reissues
This was never my favorite Tom Petty album because of the production but it’s still full of great songs and it’s a great reissue with the remaster being very good . Great value for £20, the second disc has some really great stuff on it , worth it for ‘Stories We Can Tell’ alone. It also , for the price, comes with the blu ray audio for less than half the price of the vinyl. No rip offextras here so enjoy.

Could and should have been a Super Deluxe CD Box Set given the wealth of material not included
Nice to see this previously criminally overlooked 1982 classic album finally getting some attention, and this Deluxe Edition is presented fairly well, with a bonus disc of previously unreleased tracks. What unfortunately lets the set down is the inclusion of the audio-only Blu-ray. Surely some video (interviews, music videos and/or live footage from the era) could have been included too? Or, seeing as how Cameron Crowe has recently found and remastered his thought-lost Heartbreakers Beach Party documentary, why not include that on the Blu-ray?! Unless they're planning that as a stand alone release, they have definitely missed a trick here... just as they did not releasing the Somewhere You Feel Free documentary physically... only in cinemas and then on YouTube. Also, with the recent vinyl-only release of The Gennaro Tapes 1982 live album (what about those who don't want or collect vinyl), this makes me wonder why they didn't release this as a super deluxe CD box set a la Wildflowers & All The Rest, including the remastered Long After Dark album, Bonus Disc, The Gennaro Tapes, plus Blu-ray of Heartbreakers Beach Party, the French TV videos, promo videos, new interviews with Mike, Benmont, Stan and Jimmy Iovine, and, if necessary, Blu-ray audio. That would have been the way to go.Turn up the jets, let that sucker blast!
