Cassoulet William Saurin 840g ( Pack of 6 )

I became fond of this as a young man on holiday in France. Its a sort of French Big Breakfast, but the beans give it a distinct continental flavour. Useful for swift meals, microwave or on the hob, have a side of breadsticks. This brand is more of a value brand as opposed to the tins you can buy in Waitrose with the real duck pieces. Not especially cheap if you include the shipping costs, but worth it for that taste!

Bought as a gift for my son who very much enjoys this product

I regret buying six tins. As another reviewer said, this was like Heinz baked beans and sausage. What you get is two types of frankfurter style sausage, and my first tin had two lumps of what looked like meat, but one was fatty gristle. Perhaps I was expecting too much, so I am not returning the tins I have left. The real stuff is more expensive, and I should have realised - caveat emptor - .I will treat them as ready cooked base for something more like the real thing- some more flavour, and chunks of chicken, as well as real sausage, like chorizo. This does not have a French flavour. So for me a convenient way to produce a real cassoulet, but this is an escape plan from a bad buying choice I made. Lots of other people think different. To be fair the maker did describe what was in the tin, and that itnwhy I am not sending it back.

I've bought a few of these now, never been disappointed. I add some chilli and garlic to liven it up for my palate.
