We bought this for our dad for Christmas. He has a rifle hanging above the fireplace and was looking for an old powder horn. He Loves It and the look and quality are very nice. He has it hanging above the fireplace with his rifle and it displays very nice. He has been enjoying it ever since he got it. Thank you for making such a nice product.

Good looking horn
Pretty impressive, no doubt it could be used for the real thing. The only thing you need to do is replace the flimsy, too short strap. And if you do use it for your black powder fun, you will need a funnel to fill it through the tiny end, because the big end is not removable. It does look good.

Nice horn, Great Value
Very nice powder horn for the money. I usually buy from the reenactment suttlers but needed a durable horn that my kids could use. This fits the bill, and was a great value.

Much better than expected!
For the price the powder horn was much better than expected! The carved part was well done. It was highly polished and the plug was very tight. For negatives, the strap is worthless and one pin caused a small crack near the edge where it attached to the wood plug.

No fill plug
As a black powder enthusiast, I've been looking for an inexpensive powder horn for a long time. This one fits the bill. It's not terribly expensive, large enough to be used for loading and small enough to use as a priming horn (For those with flintlocks using separate powder grain for priming).Out of the box, I noticed a few blemishes on the horn. Nothing major or that would affect its use, but cosmetic. I didn't buy the horn to be pretty, I bought it to be functional. The cord is a bit short and I will need to put a longer one on, and it's thin leather so will not last. Fortunately, sturdy leather cordage exists and is inexpensive. There are, however, a couple of major drawbacks to this horn. It does not have a fill plug that is normal in the large end of most horns. This means you'll need a funnel to fill the horn. Second, it is obvious they drilled the pour spout after closing off the large end, as a result the horn is filled with shavings that will have to be removed before filling...you don't want bits of horn going into the muzzle of your rifle. The lack of a fill plug means you'll probably want to drill out the large acorn plug and install a fill plug. Again, not difficult, just tedious. Overall, it's a good horn for little money. Just don't expect to fill and use it out of the box.

Maybe a cheap prop. Not good for actual use
Absolute garbage. It is cracked on the top cap which means it wont hold powder. The end cap wont come out so I couldn't use it if I wanted to. The "leather" strap is a joke. Its tiny.

Beautifully finished. Needs a little fines to use for powder.
I was amazed at the fit and finish on the exterior. Great for show, but it needs work to use. I cleaned as best possible from small end but ended up cutting the stub off the big end and shaping it into a plug then drilled a 5/8" hole where it was cut from to all better access for cleaning and now have a large hole to fill. Would not have been worth while but for the $15 price.

Not Really Functional
I purchased this after buying another lame decoration piece hoping this one would be better. I was again stupefied by the fact that the end plug does not come out in order for powder to be poured in. It is a single fixed piece with a very short leather strap. The quality of the horn is okay but I was looking for a piece that both ends open.
