These are traditionally sized soup plates, used when soup is a course at dinner. Some would prefer larger bowls, but these are more than fine. Beautiful finish, made in England, and nicely packed. I also have the cereal bowls (regular and Ascot) and am considering buying the pasta bowls. While I tend to use them for their intended use, they are also mostly interchangeable. These are especially nice for soup because of the broad lip, but really any are fine for soup.

These are beautiful!!! They are exactly what I was needing to complete my set. The price is much better than Spode dot com. Also, they do say Made in England on the back. Win Win!! My only gripe was the box it was shipped in was open!!! Gaaaahhhhh! Thankful that these dishes were still inside and not damaged. I did hold my breath while unpackaging them.

Gorgeous! Love this for soups. This is a great size and the shallow bowl looks prettt on the table.

Great pattern and love the design ... that being said my package arrived in the most awfully packed box ever! Seriously, it looked as if the packer just threw the plates in the box... the box was about 3 times larger than necessary so the boxes of bowls were tossed around during shipping. The other issue was the bowls were totally second stock. There is no way these are mint, new. Each bowl had a quality issue - first bowl has uneven glazing on bottom side of bowl, second had a huge junk out of the blue pattern, and the last 2 bowls were missing glaze on some of the blue pattern - so I think these must be second hand items, something you'd find in a TM... perhaps this is why there is a price different btw spode.com and here. And I am not a china expert, these were very visible quality issues. My purpose for purchasing was to use these as every day dishes. They were made in England though . If you're expecting to receive pieces you can use for eating and actually using, I would just order from spode.com. If you have time and can take the risk, order here ...you might get lucky but just saying, not sure it's worth all the hassle and the trouble of wondering if you're getting an inferior product.

Don't be deceived by the shallow appearance. These bowls hold plenty of soup. I know some folks would like a giant deep bowl but I prefer to eat less, more slowly and then get seconds if needed. I've used my bowls several time for soup and only once went back for a second serving. These bowls were a nice addition to my set and they are made in England.It seems like Spode has their service ware and specialty holiday items made in China- with their more traditional pieces made in England.

The English product itself arrived safely. Bought as warehouse deal (too expensive otherwise), the Spode box was advertised as mangled...and it was. Great product though. Tossed the packaging but kept the superb soup plates! Nicer than the pasta bowls.

I received Spode salad plates, but I ordered Spode "soup bowls". I love the blue & white Spode salad plates so I'm going to keep them. And I will re-order the Spode soup bowls at a later time.

I had expected these bowls to be larger but they are more of a desert plate. Really they are small but just beautiful. I wish all my dishes were Spode like these. I love them.
