A Gorgeous Wood smoker set IF you know how to use it. No manual!
I have mixed feeling about this wood smoker set. On one hand, it's a beautifully put together set for smoking alcohols, vegetables and fresh herbs and spices. However, if you have never used a set such as this, then you're out of luck in figuring out how to use it. I know how to use the wood smoking gun with the tubes that connect to the "gun" which holds the wood chips that you light and the smoke lets out the tube into a box where the food or liquids you want to smoke are kept. This is called "cold smoking."This set does not use a smoking gun, so to speak. It have an octagon shaped wooden piece with an opening in the middle, where I assume the wood chips are meant to go and there are two metal strainers which fit in that middle section to hold the chips and a cover which I imagine you place over the wood chips after lighting them with the torch which is included. Note: there is no butane included for the torch. In the bottom of the wooden octagon, which holds the chips, there are small holds that I imagine the smoke comes out of but I don't know how it's meant to smoke anything when the holes are go to four or 6 different directions and there is not way to lock the smoke in which whatever you are trying to smoke. If you just put a shot of whiskey next to one of the small holes where the smoke comes out of, it's not going to do anything. I suppose one could DIY with a shoe box by placing the smoker in a box with the food or drink you wish to wood smoke but an "All-In-One" wood smoking set should include everything you need especially something as important as an enclosure to avoid the smoke from escaping. There are also two metal cubes that have some type of liquid inside them which I can't imagine what they're purpose is. If I were to guess, I would say they can be frozen and put into a liquor which you are smoking with the kit. Other than that, I really have no idea what purpose they might serve since there are no instructions or even a piece of paper to show pictures of where things go.The 4 tins of different types of wood chips are very lovely smelling and looking. I really would like to play with this set because it's truly a beautiful kit. I just wish they'd put a user's manual or link to a video on how to use it. I'll probably play around with it and see what, if anything, I might be able to do with it.

Pretty Good
I wasn't aware of the whole smoking drinks thing until we went to a trendy restaurant with hipsters and neckbeards and the waiter asked if I wanted my old fashioned smoked. Sure why not. Next thing I know there's a small fire in front of me and lots of smoke with my drink under a giant goblet sitting in the smoke. It did infuse some flavor into the drink and made a heck of a show, so when I looked into a set, this one popped up.Couple things stood out to me when I received this; the box is black. That's it. The pictures show some kind of label on the inside and outside of the lid. Nothing. Just black. Everything is packed neatly in foam like the rest of the picture though, so that's a win. I started unpacking everything and checking things out, I took out the torch and grabbed my butane to load it up. After about five minutes of playing I figured out how it worked but no flame. The box comes iwith no instructions whatsoever so I went back in my order history and found out how to properly fill the torch. Made a difference, it fired right up once I discharged it and refilled. The set comes with two metal chill stones so I put them in the freezer and decided to make a drink once they got cold (didn't take long at all since they're metal). Filled a tumbler, set it up and lit up the applewood chips. Worked pretty well, but the wife wasn't happy about the unexpected smoke smell lol. It worked as intended, but turns out tumblers have uneven edges so lots of the smoke rolled out and our smoke detector went off. I was a bit nervous that the giant cover for the glass is made of wood too so I was careful about applying the flame. It worked, nothing special, so I tried another flavor of wood, legitimately couldn't tell the difference, and so I opened all the chips and there's no real aroma in the tins, and I couldn't tell the difference in flavors while smoking at all.Overall, for the price, this seems like an ok set, nothing too exciting, but a neat novelty for the smoky trend going on. I'll keep it in the liquor cabinet and hope I don't set off the smoke detector the next time I try it out. Probably too much wood on the first pass. Little bit goes a long way.

Get Smokin'!
This kit is awesome. I tried it with my brandy and it really gives your drinks a smoky flavor. I'm not a big drinker, so I used it to infuse my stovetop steaks with smoke. It gave them that outdoor grill BBQ flavor and it was delicious! I took some chips and put them in the screen container. Then I sat that down inside the wood smoker. Then I torched them and sat them in the middle of the steak pan, then covered it. (Be sure to turn on your hood fan, and you won't get smoked out at all.) The smoke gently bellowed out the sides and infused right into the meat. You get oak, cherry, apple, and walnut wood chips in the kit. You also get the wood smoker, torch, brush, spoon, and four containers. I also ordered a kit with eight other wood flavors separately. Do look for that! My favorite was the walnut wood in my brandy, and the apple wood in my steaks. My husband was really blown away with this one! I wish I had given this to him for Christmas or Father's Day. Nevertheless, this item is a winner. When you can't fire up your grill, you can still have that fiery, authentic, grilled flavor indoors. Plus, this smoker is so unique and one-of-a-kind! I highly recommend this as a gift for your "misters".
