natural oomph
That natural Msg umami taste without msg. It's a small bag but I use his as if it were msg, with salt too. So it adds that extra oomph to my dishes. Fried rice is great with it.

Umamigoodness
So much umami flavoring. This is excellent for use in a lot of savory dishes but especially on rice or in soups. There's a certain undertone to the salty, seaweedy vibe that just makes things better. Don't be scared of it but don't use a ton. There is a reason it is a small size.

Very small bag of salt
This bag of salt is much smaller than I expected, but it seems to be basically finishing salt. As far as its taste, I expected with the emphasis on “wild kombu” that it would have more seaweed, or at least seaweed flavor, but it’s actually coated, they say in the product listing, with dashi (a kind of broth) made with kombu. Its smell is different than plain salt, but I taste nothing but salt when I taste it alone. It has no flecks of seaweed and just looks like salt.

Great alternative to MSG
If you like flavors and salt, then this product is for you! The salt provides natural flavors from seaweed, you just need a little bit to help bring out the flavors from the food. I use this in place of MSG and works great as an alternative to MSG!

Small Big, Big Flavor
I must say that this is a rather small bag of salt. I was expecting it to be a little larger for the price, but I suppose that is the price you pay for quality. This is very flavorful and adds a whole new flavor profile to a variety of dishes (meats, veggies, rice, etc.) Definitely recommend to kombu lovers!

Full of umami
Don't let the size of the bag fool you, a little goes a long way. Just a small bit of the salt is enough to make a big difference to my soups and food, and it can be saltier than you think if you accidentally add too much. My husband loves the umami of the salt and says that he can pinpoint the seaweed flavoring in there. I added it to some porridge the other day, and it helped give it a more unique flavoring than the typical salt. I highly recommend getting it!
