Q: Does this product control the lower abdomen pooch ?

Not well for me. I am short so it just came up way too high to do any good. I tried placing the band where I wanted it to hit but then I had 2 extra inches of crotch fabric dangling between my legs. I wish I could find something for us short torso women

Q: I’m size 16, what would be the best size to purchase? Want it to do its job but obviously don’t want it to give me a muffin top either. Please help

Get an Xlarge - your concern is exactly what i wanted. If they have a larger size like an XX - i would do that. It still does its job but it is so much more comfortable.
