Craftsman 75 pc Inch & Metric tap and die Set

I have a set from the early 90's and this set is the same quality as far as the tap and dies . The tap and die handles are just so so , but they do work.

i dont use this stuff very often so i dont need snap on and this scored excellent in project farms testing and is cheap enough for the average diy

They worked great but I lost like 60% of the kit when hurricane Michael took out my tool shed. Even after all this time we are still picking up the pieces.

As others have said, the plastic case does have some issues, but it is decent enough to do its job, it just could be better. My only real complaint is that the T-handles and tap chuck are poor. I tried to tap a 3mm thread through 1/8" steel and the chuck could not gripe the tap. Luckily I had an old chuck from my dad that was built right and that worked perfect. The first time I used the T-handle, the three bladed stock alignment mechanism got wedged and I needed to take it apart to fix it. It kind of works, but is very fragile.Those issues aside, the few taps and dies I have used so far performed well. I was lucky enough to have a small collection of handles from a previous sets so the shortfalls did not impact me.

I ordered these to replace a 1980's set that my dad gave me hoping they would be at least half the quality, I've used a few taps and dies so far and the quality is still the same unlike similar name brands whose quality is not what it used to be. Thanks Craftsman for the quality materials you use.

Excellent quality for the price! Have had this set for only about two weeks and have already used it 3-4 times, with good results! Worth the price for home use.

High quality tools at a reasonable price. Quality as good or better than many high priced tap's and dies that I have owned and used throughout my career as a auto and truck mechanic.
