I have used this RidgidClear snake a lot. I have an apartment building and people who rent the apartments have hair. Their hair clogs the shower drains, sometimes. I live in the same building and my hair clogs the drains. Having a plumber come and snake out clogged drains is expensive. This snake has saved me money.MY RidgidClear snake has been used half a dozen times. It is a serious tool, which you should know how to use before use, is easy to use, but can cause harm. I have discovered only one fault and that is the protective tube around the cable comes off. It is secured only with slight pressure on main device. This might be a safety feature. I stop then reattach and continue slowly when noticed. I always wear solid gloves to protect my hands and googles for my eyes.

Best tool I have purchased in a long time. I was a bit wary, spending as much as I did. I have used the hand augers before and the drill powered augers with much frustration and not good results. This tool was simple to use. It was a breeze to set up and it went down the drain so easy. I do recommend that you are ready with flush water and rags. Drains are nasty, smelly and messy chores.While the manual does not specifically mention use on floor drains, as long as it is a short chase, you will be fine. I have a recurring slow floor drain. It is always an issue and the wash machine only makes it more troublesome. This little guys powered right through. I sent it down three times to be sure, each time smooth and effortless.The money I spent on this tool has already paid me back. A service call would have been in excess of $250. If you are on the fence, do it. Rigid makes a fine tool here.

Cleaned and opened drains in both the kitchen and my bathrooms. Gloves are a definite must with this tool; the black gunk that comes out of drains is gross and will stain skin and clothing alike. I’m a 68 yo female but have always been a DIY’er if possible. I have a cordless drill that I’ve used a snake with before but it’s a PITA and very heavy! I wanted something easier to hold and more powerful and this Ridgid fit the bill. I had to pull cable back and forth several times when it slowed down or ran into a hair clog and I also went the full length of the cable and retracted it, twice, just the make sure I got the drain completely open. Great purchase, I feel I got my moneys worth for less than a plumber’s charge! Would definitely buy again and highly recommend!

Very practical ... good size, tidy and easy to use...It is just few feet less that described

I was skeptical at first as all these guys were saying how garbage this tool is... yeah the hose guard pops off alot my suggestion put a hose clamp on it... other then that the tool did the job unclogged both my bathroom sinks that every liquid plumber in a bottle couldn't touch... operation is super easy if you can run a drill you can operate this machine... my other bit of advice when you hit the clog stop feeding just sit there a second and drill into the clog then start feeding again... I ran both my drains the full 30 feet the machine would go... my house wad built in the 60's I have cast iron pipes this little machine put a whole lot of money in installing new plumbing or calling out plumbing guys to snake it for me to the back burner... one day I'll have to replace my pipes but not today... thanks for another quality machine rigid...

Works great, Easy to clean and maintain, Easy to use. Save your money don't hire a plumber this product pays for its self. And best of all made in USA

This unit seemed to be very solid, made from good-quality materials, and appeared to be thoughtfully designed.so I was reassured after I opened the box.Unfortunately, that didn’t last long.I followed the instructions, but the protective flexible hose that covers the steel snake kept falling off due to the machine’s vibrating. The vibration wasn’t excessive, about what one would expect from a machine like this.I got it fully unreeled inside the kitchen sink drain, then retracted it.Poured water down the drain, but no luck.Tried it again, but this time, reacting it was difficult.Then again, but retracting it was a problem once more.On the final try, I couldn’t get the cable to go back inside the housing, and it took over 30 minutes to get what I could back inside and on the reel.I had to send it back with about five feet of cable hanging out of it.Happily, the return went fine, so I wasn’t disappointed by that.Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this product. Maybe with a few tweaks this could be a winner, and at a good price.But not now.
