The vintage 1983 La-Z-Boy simple recliners have a pawl and ratchet that keep the footrest from falling down, and that keep the chair from rocking. There’s a length of curved spring steel that attaches to a barrel that fits onto the footrest lever axel, that pushes the pawl into the ratchet. After 30 years or so, this spring steel fatigues and breaks. And of course, you can’t BUY the parts for this vintage la-z-boy any more. But the concept is simple: measuire the gauge and find hard steel wire that will fit. That’s actually not as simple as it sounds; this was the closest, but it’s a tad larger. After bending the “feet” to fit the barrel, we filed the feet and the two of them were able to fit into the barrel - and the chair is fixed.

I received my (3) 36-inch 0.055 wires loose in a plastic bag, and not in the clear tube with red safety tips as shown!

Why buy factory mag release spring when you can buy this and make your own. This gauge of. 055 is a tad on the heavier side but you can use . 047 for a lighter push. This is great. I've not had to buy another mag release spring again.

pretty expensive for what you get, otherwise the quality is good for RC models
