Union BS3621 Rim Lock Brass 60MM

Replaced old lock. Easily fitted as everything lined up. Wasn’t cheap but a very good and secure lock. All in all very pleased.

I am pleased with the lock which seems well made and secure. Arrived quickly from Lock Traders.I was replacing an old standard Yale. The hole in the door for the barrel needed some adjustment and the fixing screws had to be shortened but nothing too bad.Thanks to another reviewer who warned about not being able to unlock with the key from outside. I was ready for this and I also found the key would not work from outside. After an hour of trial and error fitting and refitting the lock on the backplate trying different positions with a lever inside success ! Also be careful to trim the lock barrel bar ( 5b in the instructions ) to exactly the right length. If it is even slightly too long it catches the lock workings and stops it working correctly.End result very good but some frustrating issues.

This was not a cheap lock but the additional cost is well worth it with the quality of the product. As this was going as a direct replacement it was easily fitted. Excellent delivery service.

Been out of original package roughly cellotaped together obviously a return...not as described.

This was a replacement lock for an identical one,which was 30 years old but was worn out. Fitting was easy as it was like for like, however the keys had not been deburred properly so the lock mechanism didn't turn properly. Had to get get a locksmith to sort out what should have been a simple fit.After 18 months the lock began to jam when the deadbolt was turned back, our locksmith diagnosed worn parts -after 18 months!To be fair Union are replacing the lock FOC.

I only picked this lock because I wished to start re-using a door a previous occupant had boarded over and not used. The door used to have this same lock fitted except the original had been a Chubb. I believe Union must have taken Chubb over. The bottom line is that this lock is better and more secure than the average. The build quality is stronger and its operating action very good. For me fitting was just a matter of winding new screws into holes and chiseling that already existed. But I am nevertheless happy with the arrangement, both for ease of fitting and security. Cost however is an issue and this lock was expensive. Over £100 or $150. A lot of extra cash for modest security gains. I doubt I would have spent the money were the door and frame not already shaped to accept this particular lock. But each to his or her own and I am happy, so I feel able to say positive things about it. Certainly I think it will pose anyone trying to gain access illegally more of a problem than the more usual Yale locks. I suggest a score for security of 10/10 but only 7/10 for cost. Best wishes

Direct replacement for my decades-old lock which I think died of old age. I was delighted to discover they were still available, albeit under a different brand name, and that the price wasn't too crazy. Took me 15 minutes to fit, and another hour to get back into the house when I managed to lock myself out. Excellent security, just be careful you don't leave the lock in the night latch position when you go out. It is supplied in that position, which was my undoing, so you need to unlatch it.

I'm not 100% convinced about this lock when you have it in your hand it functions fine and also the keys work fine, but when you fit it to the doorAnd it's locked out of 10 times twice I have not been able to get in to my home because the keys will not go fully down the barrel as soon as the door lock is opened from the inside and the door is open the keys work fine luckily my wife was home and she was able to open the door, I have since removed the lock, and now do not know how to get around the problem, I have wasted about 25 hrs on this lock making sure that nothing is causing binding and the the door lock and keep are lined up correctly
