The Indian Chai - South African Rooibos Tea 100g, Pure Delight, Antioxidant-Rich Herbal Beverage for Relaxation and Wellness

Having tried black, green and white tea, I was eager to foray into the world of red tea and I have to say, I am mighty impressed!!Since it was my first time I wanted to go with a tea brand I trust and my past experience with The Indian Chai has been extremely good so I went ahead and ordered myself the famed rooibos tea (also called red tea/ redbush tea) which it is claimed is packed with powerful antioxidants & a host of health benefits (good for cardiovascular health, diabetes, weight loss, premature ageing, skin issues, hypertension, asthma, kidney stones, insomnia, and the list goes on!)When I first opened the seal, I must add I was mildly disappointed, for, the rooibos didn’t seem to have a distinctive smell. Since I usually opt for blends (say tea with Jasmine, Lavender, Lemongrass, Rose, Mint, different spices, etc) I am used to a subtle fragrance which was missing here since this was pure rooibos (but in hindsight I am glad I had it without add ons, this way I could taste the tea and assess it for its sole merit). After steeping it for about 4 mins I was super excited because I could actually see the colour red!The tea has a rich red tint and the best part is it does not have the characteristic bitterness of green tea and yet has all its benefits and more! I found it very earthy and extremely pleasing on the taste buds. And it did have a mild fragrance after brewing but it would be hard to describe. Suffice to say it is very pleasant.I usually opt for Chamomile or Lavender before bedtime but I think Rooibos has won me over! It has no caffeine and aids relaxation & sleep so for me this is the new night time tea!You can easily steep it 2-3 times although I found it to be very light on the third steep.The tea is in a zip paper bag which means you can zip lock it and retain the freshness without having to transfer it into a container.Lastly, the sellers sent me free sample of ‘Moringa Green tea’ and a generous serving at that! Yay!

This is a must try. Refreshing change from regular green tea. Woody scent and flavor not very strong. But if it was packaged as tea bag could have been more usefull.

This is my first time trying Rooibos Tea. First impressions on receiving the product was the quality of the packaging, which is excellent. The package is sealed for tamper-protection. Inside package is a vaccum sealed pack containing the tea and an airtight pouch in which you can transfer the contents to before storing.The drinking experience : Upon drinking the first cup the feeling of getting relaxed was quite noticeable and quick to set in. The mood stayed stabilized for the next few hours without any abrupt comedown (sometimes what you experience with good amounts of caffeine). The smell of the leaves is pleasant.Taste: Unfortunately I cannot compare it to other brands. I did like what I tasted. There is no bitterness even on long steeping time. I figure I can re-steep one spoon of this for about 3 times with longer steep every time.I am looking forward to try out your other teas soon.

I ordered rooibos tea because I was suffering from an upset sleeping schedule. I like drinking tea and coffee while I am working, but I can't drink caffeinated drinks towards later in the evening because they keep me awake. So, rooibos tea is good. It's flavour is very different from normal teas, because it is made from a bark. So you do get a woody flavour and smell. If you don't like that, you may not like this tea. Initially, I made it in my French Press, it was okay. But later, when I bought a tea carafe, I made the tea in that. It really turned out delicious. I also added some rose petals in it, which reduced the woody flavour. It was delivered promptly. There is a nice airtight paper bag in which it remains secure. However, I would have liked a tea jar option as well. The outside packaging was a bit torn. Although it didn't damage the tea so it was okay.

The purchase I did earlier had better quality leaves. The leaves now are more like dust while the earlier purchase leaves were more fuller.

I used to drink Rooibos while i was in Johannesburg. I bought two boxes of Rooibos from Indian Chai last year. The taste was really great and i liked it very much. I purchased it again from Indian Chai last month. But the quality and taste is very poor now. Even i double the quantity per cup, still it tastes like just hot water.

Packing is very good. It tastes very nice and colour is like red wine 😁 can have it the way you like. With milk or without milk. It's very nice. And it really aids benefits
