Detailed, updated, tough. Excellent choice for the experienced.
Good book. Updated content. Perfectly delivered. It has abundant information, but the structure of presenting them considerably complicated for learners who are studying the subject for the very first time and the language will make you seek for the dictionary every now and then. If you are a novice do not start to learn History of English Literature with this book, because then you will start fearing the subject. If you are experienced with other books and the subject itself, then go for this one and you will definitely like it.My suggestions for History of English Literature :First choice : Routledge (lucid like a story book. clear concepts. manifesting interest in the subject, updated).Second choice : Oxford (updated, abundantly and depthfully informative, tough laguage will increase your vocabulary.)

Font doesnt make me stick to the book!
Amazon did a good job,Book matter: contexual information is well given..For a person like me .. Its all the same font and no highlighted names or stuff.. So i find it a bit clumsy...! Ill enclose a picture of some pages, ull get some idea !History of eng lit is eloborate and needs a lot of patience , if you are a started its font makes u bibliophobic! Yet its another william j long, david dachies , routeledge

Excellent Book.
Excellent book for the students and teachers of English Literature. But for students is prescribed to read one or more simple and intelligible writers like WJ Long or Ronald Carter. Those books have a very clear approach and chapter division.Add per this book is concerned, it's the most detailed and informative book for anyone doing English Literature. Most of the time it seems dry in case of literary expression but reading Sanders is indispensable.
