Q: What is the response to the numerous customer reviews that say that the thing keeps falling off unless the guitar is resting against it?

So, the guitar rest doesn't work as advertised when there are NO guitars at rest? Who'da thunk it?

Q: Hello. I use a standing desk. Can I use this product to hang the guitar, as opposed to the bottom of the guitar touching the floor?

The product has to latch on to something. In my case it is the edge of a table which protrudes beyond feet of table. The bottom of the guitar doesn't have to be on the floor but I consider this a somewhat dangerous practice. It might be easy for the guitar to slip and fall. You can buy it and try it, wriggle the head of the guitar inside the 'latching fingers' and see if it is secure.

I would not face the fretboard inward. This keeps the guitar upright, but you have to be careful not to leave it where someone might trip over the guitar. A handy little device. Beats carrying around a stand.

Q: Can the "Dock" version be left permanently off a shelf? Trying not to drill holes in a wall right which is why I'm looking at this.

If I understand the question correctly, yes! I have it attached to my desk and my travel guitar is safely held in place. The guitar rests on the floor.
