Humane E-Collar training
My only knowledge of e-collars before reading this book was from what I saw around me-- most of the time it is someone misusing and abusing their dog with an e-collar and it is heartbreaking to see. It is really no wonder that e-collars have a bad name and they are illegal to use in some areas of the world.I would argue instead that e-collars are abusive IF you do not follow the correct preliminary conditioning and training process that is outlined in this program. You need to take your time to introduce and teach your dog about the collar so they will not be fearful and they will not get hurt. This book is a steal for $5 on Kindle! If you are not dealing with a dangerously aggressive dog and have the motivation to train yourself this book is pretty much all you will need besides good treats and an e-collar. The book itself is short and to the point (unlike this review, lol), there are homework print outs, and videos to outline the steps you need to take. The combination of all of these make it easier to learn and retain.Walks with my dog have become dull repetitive loops around our property because she is too big and too much of a hellraiser to let run wild when she doesn't listen to my commands. I am excited to start slowly giving back her freedom step by step! Hooray!

Great e-collar book!
This is an excellent book for anyone using an e-collar with an easy to follow plan to train your dog with an e-collar. I have trained my own dogs for many years and already knew how to use an e-collar, but wanted to check out this book and now recommend to others that may be newer to using them. I followed the plan with my pup to see how it worked for me and it was great! You need to be patient with e-collar training, don’t rush it and educate yourself thoroughly before using an e-collar. They aren’t meant for all dogs and can mess up a dog and your relationship with them if you don’t use it properly. Always consider working with a professional!

E-collar by Dogtra
Easy to use the vibration feature on my dog. Still trying to gradually use constant and nick feature since my dog is a sensitive soul, however very good because it has 127 levels that can adjust intensity.

Easy read, very helpful information
I was introduced to the e-collar a while ago for reactivity, but I felt like I never fully understood how to train a dog off-leash reliably. This book makes that easy! It is even written out into a plan, and for planners like me, that is incredibly helpful (i.e., days 1-3 do this, days 4-# do this, etc). It seems crazy that in a mere 18 days you could have off-leash reliability, but we will see. I've read through the book and am starting on day 1 of training today. Already my dog is ecstatic about the training sessions and was smiling the whole time. He's always been eager to learn.Of everything I've seen about e-collars so far, this is the most simple, and easy to understand book about them. He breaks the training into 4 pillars, and it's incredibly intuitive.I will try to remember to update this after we finish the training protocols outlined in this book. Currently, my dog chases squirrels in the back yard, unless he is on a long line, and I wouldn't trust him off leash on a hike because of squirrels and other wildlife. He loves dogs and would approach every single one if he could, another reason he can't be off leash in public spaces. If this can help me trust him around small critters, and listen to me around other animals that would be amazing.

Pretty thorough explanation of his methods
While I wouldn't necessarily do everything the way this trainer does, I found that this book outlined his methods pretty well. For someone looking to start their dog on an ecollar and stop minor behavior problems, you can follow the trainers methods step by step without much difficulty.I don't think these are always the best methods to use, but I am not an expert trainer, just my personal opinion.

e-Collar Training at it's Best!
In the beginng I thought I would NEVER use a e-Collar. A friend of mine who is the Seargent for the K9 unit of our local PD told me that they use e-Collars to train all their dogs and the "electrical shock" was not like sticking your finger in a plug socket, but more like rubbing your feet on the carpet then touching metal. Ted has written this book in such a way that virtually anybody can understand it. It flows simply, and is clear as a bell, even in his sample videos, he demonstrates everything from the very simple to the what I will now call the "somewhat" difficult. The true test is buying the right equiptment, and the even truer test is how dedicated we are as "dog people"/ "dog owners." Another thing about Ted is that if you have a question and email him, he typically gets back to you within 48 hours. I have seen and met some good dog trainers, but Ted is a GREAT dog trainer, and even has a set of videos you can buy too. My 17 month old German Shepherd (Jem), sits by me, goes down, releases her toys on command, can go further without her leash, will leave a pack of 7-10 dogs upon my command, and play with all size dogs with no aggression, thanks to good e-Collar training from Ted's book.

Good book. Easy to follow instructions.
This is a great book. After paying a dog trainer to train our dog "on-leash" I was looking to do the "off-leash" training myself. If you follow what this book says, you will be successful. You REALLY need to make sure your dog is "on-leash" trained first though. I would never recommend training a dog "off-leash" until they have been trained "on-leash" and have proven to be very successful at it. Pair this book with a quality Dogtra brand collar (they are top of the line collars) and you will do just fine.

Not bad
It doesn’t set a very good foundation, but gives a good idea of what to do after that is set. Most people already have that foundation though, so it is a good read for people having basic problems.
