Miffy the Artist

These books are a delight and very gently open up a subject to a young child, creating interest .

Lovely book, although to my eye the colour described as red is in fact orange

The whole family always (and still does) enjoy the Dick Bruna classics. I grew up with Miffy and it's nice now that my children can too! They make reading fun. My 2.5 year old now recalls each page from memory before I've even read it to her!

This is the first Miffy book I have owned, but I have to agree with the other reviewer's comments about it not being the usual Miffy experience. The other Miffy books I have previewed are written in very sweet verse, and this book is prose (and stilted, in my opinion). Almost half of the illustrated pages don't even contain pictures of Miffy -- instead they just show the drawings she makes, which look more like modern art than cute crayon drawings. That's a disappointment for my toddler, who loves to look and point at Miffy.I bought this book because, at the time, it was the only one that shipped directly from Amazon and could get to me for a reasonable price in a reasonable time frame. I'm glad I was able to get any Miffy book at all, but I plan to do some better searching and order some of the more traditional books in the collection. I'd recommend you skip this one if you can afford the time and money to shop around for others.
