Fabulous, healthy scoby. Totally recommend!
I ordered this little beasty after reading up on the health benefits of kombucha, and watching countless YouTube videos on how to brew your own. When my scoby arrived, it was well packaged and looked as healthy as something that looked like some alien life form/placenta could possibly look. I will admit, even after seeing them on videos, I was still mentally unprepared for the actual strangeness of its form. I was wary of unleashing it from its packaging, and it probably took me a good couple of weeks before I was brave enough to do so. Once I got over the fear, I got everything ready following the sellers clear and easy instructions. And away I went on my kombucha journey. I'm pleased to say, it has brewed me multiple batches, with no issues at all. And no alien life form has erupted from it to suck my life force away. I am still using this original scoby along with my baby scobies in multiple vessels, as I now have the fear of running out of this amazing drink. So my advice is, if you are considering getting into your own brewing journey, do it! But always remember to look after your scoby well. And your scoby will look after you. Happy Booching!

Great stuff!
The easiest (and cheapest) way to make your own probiotic rich drink at home! The scoby is great quality and comes with very good instructions on how to brew your own Kombucha. All you'll need is hot water, some (unrefined) sugar, and teabags. Add the mixture to the scoby, let it sit for about 2 weeks and voilá, it's ready. For added flavour, I put mine in the fridge once drained from the scoby culture, add some frozen fruit and drink it over a few days. The scoby duplicates every 2 weeks, so you can end up brewing lots in no time. However, I personally stopped at 2x2L jars per fortnight and use any additional scoby that grows as plant fertilizer in my garden. Just put it in the blender with some water. Very simple and effective. Would recommend. Also, if you're worried about not being home for a while or you don't want to drink Kombucha all the time, you can let the scoby(s) sit in the liquid, which then becomes a "scoby hotel". Just re-start the process by draining rather than drinking the liquid (keep 100ml as starter liquid!), and adding the new tea+sugar mix... I had chronic health issues and had to rebuild my gut microbiome after years of antibiotics. Don't worry about the sugar - it's consumed by the scoby culture when brewing, which turns it into probiotic goodness!

Worked great for me
I needed the medium size for my 3L jars and it arrived within 2 days. I followed the instructions from a website and within 6 days I had kombucha that rivals the best store bought kinds! Really great scoby, just wish it came with more liquid, but now I have enough for my next batch.

Good result
Received the starter pack in good time and have successfully brewed my first batch in 10 days. Now brewing my second batch and intending to do a 2nd fermentation to get some carbonated drinks. Happy customer :-)

Great, healthy scoby.
Firstly, the communication with this company was good. I asked a couple of questions, I accidentally ordered two... all sorted out in a few hours no problem. The scoby arrived all broken and torn, and I was told this was normal by the company but of course, this was the first time I made kombucha and I wasn't so sure. I tried it out anyway.I made my first batch of kombucha using this scoby and starter fluid, following a recipe online, and it worked perfectly. I could see over the 7-8 days the colour change of my tea, and when I tasted it, had a delicious batch of kombucha. I have now used this scoby to make three batches, and it has grown a baby scoby to keep in a 'hotel'.Overall, very happy. My only downside is that the scoby is still torn, so separating the baby scoby wasn't easy and it doesn't look like a nice, solid disk, as I see in all the blogs online!

Lovely stuff
It’s doing a pretty good job so far. The scoby straight out the packet is a lot stronger than the one that forms on the surface, so the first batch with it included went too sharp after 12 days. I removed the square, kept the newly formed disk and its more manageable now in subsequent batches.

Good quality arrived quickly
Medium size scoby and starter liquid worked well for my 3l kombucha brew. First time making it and it turned out great. Instructions included are simple and straight forward. Have just bottled up the 2nd batch flavoured with raspberries and ginger. Can't wait ... thanks very much for getting me started! :)

Compact and potent
This was the first time that I purchased a SCOBY for kombucha fermentation, having previously nurtured my own for homebrewing. I will admit that I was dubious, upon seeing the small package containing a small, retangular pellicle and no more than 1 tablespoon of starter liquid. I thought that, surely, more starter liquid would be needed in order to develop a fully fledged colony. I started small -- only 2 liters of freshly brewed, sweetened tea -- and introduced the SCOBY (the pellicle and its small quantity of starter liquid). To my surprise, the colony's growth really took off! Now, a few weeks later, I have several successful batches of kombucha brewing as offshoots from that first SCOBY. Having left my own SCOBYs in another country, and having had NO success in promoting a live culture from the few commercially bottled kombuchas (of varying quality) that are available in my country, I am thrilled to again be in the game. Thanks!
