Really great, efficient grinder
Really great, efficient grinder. Can use for spices, rice and all types of grains or dried berries and fruits....coffee too! Handles a portion size of 4×s a regular store bought rotary grinder. Comes with a screen sifter to separate out any larger pieces that may need additional grinding.

Good for making incense if used carefully
I've been using this thing for a couple months now to grind resins and herbs for making traditional incense. I was attracted to it by the claim that it could grind myrrh, which can be rock hard. It can actually grind myrrh to powder with repeated grindings (but be careful, because myrrh will start to melt with heat and stick to the sides of the cup). It also ground Santalum spicatum wood chips into powder. However, it overheats easily. I usually run it for five seconds at a time. There's a dial on the side that is supposed to keep it going for much longer, but I found it overheated with repeated grindings of 10-15 seconds apiece. That said, 15 seconds is enough to powderize most stuff. I like to have some bits not powderized, so I run it for five seconds at a time. The fact that it tilts is helpful when you are grinding something hard or not a lot of something. You can tilt it and run it and it will grind better because stuff is not all lying at the bottom of the cup.It is a bit hard to get used to the cup not being removable. The little brush that comes with it to clean it out works surprisingly well. I also have tried grinding a handful of uncooked rice in it between sessions, and that cleans it up fairly well. The dinguses that hold the top closed take some getting used to also, but once you get them positioned how you want, they just snap up and off easily.I have gone through a lot of grinders and this one is the best I have found so far. Sure beats the daylights out of the huge granite mortar and pestle I was using for years.

Great so far
I bought this mainly to make grains into flour. So far, I've ground wheat berries, oat groats and buckwheat seeds. All ground into a nice flour and quickly! I love the fact that they sent extra motor parts out of the box. They knew these parts will eventually wear out and were proactive. Very forward thinking! They care about the customer. I read a bunch of reviews that said this was hard to clean after use. I didn't find that to be the case. The little brush that comes with the unit does a good job getting the flour dust off. It takes me about 5 minutes to clean with the brush followed by a soft cloth to wipe down the unit. I don't think 5 minutes to clean is a big deal.A few things that could be improved. The manual sounds like it is written by a person whose first language is not English. The manufacturer should spend a little money getting an English native speaker to review the manual and fix it up. Despite the poor English, the manual can be understood. If the manufacturer wants to contact me, I'll fix the manual for free in appreciation for the good product they built. (My first language is American English)The other thing is that I found confusing was the power knob. You turn it to determine how long the unit will run. The 30 second mark on the dial was not obvious. It looks like I am turning the dial to the off position when I am not. Most of the grinding I've done only takes 30 seconds, so that position should be highlighted in bold. It is the setting you will use over and over. There is a slight machine-oil smell when the unit is running. But that doesn't effect the operation of the unit in any way. The smell doesn't bother me at all but may bother people who are very sensitive to odors.Overall, very happy so far!

FLAWED DANGEROUS DESIGN
Let me start by saying that yes this machine is able to proficiently grind things. The problem is that those items are not things you actually want to ingest. After using this machine a total of TWO TIMES and cleaning per the manufacturer's instructions, it shot out gear grease and oil into the stainless steel bowl. Obviously, this renders any food items totally unsafe for consumption. This is a design flaw with this machine. Also, there is no safety lockout, so the machine's blades are able to spin at full speed without the lid in place (watch your fingers!). The warranty is ONLY 30 DAYS so of course they won't issue a refund or replace the item (I had it for maybe 90 days total?) Of course it doesn't say that anywhere on their page. Avoid these people and their shady junk product.Amazon initially wasn't going to issue a refund either, so be wary of dealing with overseas third party vendors--the "A to Z Guarantee" isn't quite all that!

Perfect Grinder for my Office
As a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, I use this grinder to grind my raw Chinese herbs, this includes roots and tough shells. It works very well and the price was great. I even emailed them once when I had a problem removing the blades and they responded within 24 hours with a PDF to help me out. They also followed-up so customer service was great.

I'm pleased with my purchase
I'm pleased with my purchase. After being recommended this product from a respected herbal teacher and medicine maker, it was at the top of my herbal wish list. Finally I made it happen. It is making my herbal medicine so much more potent. It is allowing me to use powders in my herbal practice, and is giving me all sorts of ideas for new products that I can now make with the improved technology.I only give it 4 stars because I see room for improvements. Some herbs grind to a fine powder really fast, others take awhile. It would be nice if there was a window so you could know without having to open up the top.Its also kind of hard to clean the machine. The blade doesn't come out easily, and the instructions say not to get the inside of the chamber wet. I end up using a brush and occasionally I clean it with my air compressor.peace.
