Awesome Format
I am using this book with my kiddos for our art history homeschool lessons. I love the format. Each painting is featured with a bit of background information about the painting and the artist. Then the book offers an upclose look at various features of the painting. My kids love looking at the paintings, and I love that the format makes teaching so much easier for me! No more digging around for information about the art. Everything that I need to get started is right there!

Great, easy to understand book
This book is just what I was looking for. It takes a variety of paintings in chronological order and includes the following info: The whole painting; it's size relative to a person; a few paragraphs on the artist; info on the technical aspects of each painting; and selected pieces of the painting with background in history or the techniques of painting. All this in 4 very well illustrated pages per painting. Fantastic. I hope there will be a part II.

Not What I Expected
Based on the cover I expected a bunch of full page great paintings. Instead, there are like 20 paintings in this book with pages of blow ups of parts of the paintings and lots of description. The colors in the paintings are pretty muted, but that may have been the actual colors. Many are older paintings as opposed to impressionist. Not sure why, but I thought there would be like 50 or more paintings in this book, full page plates. If you want to learn art history, this is a GREAT book, and I highly recommend it. If you are trying to teach a child, I would say they would need to be at least 10 to comprehend what is in this book.

Fabulous Book. Excellent “Used” Condition
Ordered a used copy and received one that appears brand new. The layout, countless color pictures and information make this a great addition to my collection.

A great collection of work. Seen some of these in person and while the print is not perfect. It gives you a glimpse of every brush stroke.
