It's All In The Product Title, and It's All Good!
Read the title for the product right here on Amazon.com. "Professional Studio Reference" headphones. I've had mine for almost a month now and that's exactly what they are. Very balanced sound. Samson needs to get the word out to the pro/semi-pro/home recording industry. These are not just tracking headphones (to allow musicians to hear themselves during recording), if you have mixing experience, you can MIX with these headphones, right up to final mix.Mastering, the final process of preparing your recording for publication (polish, sheen, loudness), may or may not be possible on these phones. I have yet to find out. But just the fact that you can really mix - because the frequency response is so balanced and so flat - on a pair of headphones under $70 is just amazing. I use old, reliable AKG 240s for tracking when recording, but I hook up the Samson 950s directly to my iPad for mixing and they sound awesome. I'm sure they'd sound even better in my headphone amp in the studio, but that's not what I got 'em for. This is for professional couch mixing, a new thing now that iOS is a viable recording platform, and these are the best 'phones I could recommend to any other mobile recording enthusiast/professional for mobile mixing at any price. Sure, there are plenty of $200+ headphones that might sound as good, but check the impedance - anything over 50 and your iDevice will have trouble driving it. At 32 Ohms, these headphones are specced perfectly for mobile mixing.A killer deal. They are a bit tight, but that's easily fixed, just stretch 'em out as needed, let them spend the night over a chair or the back of your couch if you need to. I've got a big head, and haven't needed to stretch them. And I wear them for hours on end. You'll also want to use some sort of ties to rope off the excess length if you plan on walking anywhere with them on - otherwise you could easily trip on the cord, or draw unwanted attention from nearby cats. I'd rather have the excess chord and not need it than not have it and find myself needing it. Both the tension of the fit and length of the chord can be easily remedied for everyday use. There should be more hype about these headphones. In fact, I may go out and try to create some. This review is a start, and I highly recommend the Samson SR950s to anyone in the recording industry - home or studio - or anyone who needs to hear a flat frequency response in their headphones. These babies punch well above their weight and are just a tremendous value. I did a LOT of research before selecting these, and I couldn't be happier with my choice :)

Excellent
These headphones are exactly what you would expect if you are familiar with Samson products: excellent sound and quality - surprisingly low price. (No, I do not work for or represent Samson - I have just never been disappointed with any of their products.) The first thing I needed to do after plugging these headphones in was to change all my EQ settings to flat. These headphones really do give a flat frequency response - see the attached photo. The sound is clear, clean, and true. Please note, they are large: 50 mm drivers are 50 mm. (The drivers cannot be folded or smashed to make them smaller.) But the auto-adjusting fit and large overstrap, along with the cloth padding make them quite comfortable. I was able to wear them 4-5 hours at a time from day one. I have to push these pretty hard to get distortion or breaking up - but by then, they are way too loud for my ears. I like the thickness, strength, and flexibility of the cable, and I also like the fact that the 1/4" adapter actually screws onto the 1/8" plug. That's a nice, tight connection. On a final note, just before throwing out the box, I realised that the molded holder inside the box would make an excellent, safe holder on my desk. I spray painted it black and that did it. I believe with a little glue and creativity it would also work vertically. I am quite pleased with these headphones.

For that price, suprisingly good.
I've looking for a decent priced studio reference headphone and i found this. There is an alternative on Superlux and AKG but some of them did not allowed to shipping for my country, and others are not for my taste.Samson SR950 is a decent studio headphone came with a very good price. There is no extra stuff in the box but headphone and 3,5mm to 6,35mm jack adaptor. Cardboard box and stand gives you a cheap impression but headphone itself is not. On that price which is ~40$, i didn't expect very good presentation like wrapped with sponges either.Headphone's design is nearly looks like akg 240k. Headband is nice and that strings which is on the top looks like metal but actually they are plastic. The veloured earpads are good but i used Kingston HyperX before and that headset's earpads are much more comfy with memory foam. Even so, that headset is more pricey. Headphone itself is tight, you can feel the squeezing effect, so long hour usage might be exhausting, depending on your head size. By the way Isolation is very good.I think Samson did a terrific job on Low ends and High ends on that headphone. I'm a Heavy Metal fan and musician and i've never hear that good kick drum sound on a headphone which is that price range. Snare and cymbal sounds are very very pleasant too. I can feel the snare's membrane is poppling when stick is struck to the snare. Mid range is not impressive like others but it's very good and not tiring.Samson SR950 is a killer headphone for that price range. I'm recommending for recording and listening rock/metal music. Also, i think that headphone is much more better than gaming headphones and headsets. I've tried HyperX Cloud 2 and G35. That headsets have boosted bass range, mids are staying behind, details are lost, muddy. On the outside, that headsets looks cool but inside they are using bad drivers.
