Dietz Original #76 Oil Lamp Burning Lantern - Nickel Plated

I purchased this as a gift for a collector of the original Dietz lanterns. He loves that he can USE this one, and it also complements his collection. The light from it is nice and bright, so also a great item to have handy in case of power outages, or outdoor by the fire pit lighting.

This is my second purchase. The first unit was returned because the rust on the top lid could not be removed and there was a large gap between the burner and the main body. There was a little rust on the top lid this time as well, but it's okay because it was removed after polishing. Also, there is still a gap between the burner and the main body, but it's a little, so let's say it's okay. I have an old 76, which by comparison,is less heavy and feels cheaper to make.

I have an old Dietz lamp that is good & I have many wonderful Chinese products.The "original" #76 Dietz is a poorly assembled leaking piece of trash. You would be hard pressed to find a worse example of "Made in China" . The lamp is not assembled by craftsmen. There are a number of metal tabs that are to be bent over to hold the lamp together. The tabs are randomly bent. When filling the leaking lamp with oil I notice rust on the poorly fitting filler tube. This lamp is poorly assembled & not worth 0.25 it's price.

Cosmetically very nice lantern. Functions OK. Not the heft of the lanterns from when I was a kid (70 years ago). you won't see these on ebay 70 years from now.

The actual item is better than in the pictures. I filled it with lamp oil, and it does perform better than my other similar lanterns. I recommend it!

well made to last

The media could not be loaded. The size is okay, i wish it was bigger. The quality is low.The state it was in… is horrible. I hope that they didn’t charge me extra for the rusty corners. Probably wont use it in camping, will just keep it as a decoration
