Chromatek Glitter Gel Pens -NOT HAPPY !!!
The CHROMATEK 100 Glitter Pen Set has been a huge disappointment to me in many ways. I thought, based on other reviews about these pens (which I depend on a lot for buying or not buying an item) that these would be great gel pens. Not so!!!!First: One of the pens would not write. I tried and tried numerous times to get it to just make a mark. It would not. I finally had to throw it away.Second: I tried to sample another pen and noticed it’s almost out of ink and there is zero possibility I used this pen to use up that much ink! (see photo).Third: Two of the pens are marked by the manufacturer with the exact same identifying number GN38, both are green ink but are different shades of green! (see photo). Fourth: The little clip at the top of one of the pens GN6, has been very weak since the first time I took it out and today, it finally broke off, leaving a very sharp and pointed edge(will need to be filed down)! (see photo). I buy and have bought many different kinds and styles of gel pens, and markers by makers such as Soucolor, Kingart, Posca, Faber-Castell, Abeier, Shuttle Art and more. I’ve never had these issues with other gel pens or markers for that matter! To say I am very disappointed is an understatement. I just bought this set in early December 2023 and have not used it hardly at all! Never again. Think twice before you buy this set of gel pens!

Chromatek is the set of glitter gel pens to buy: Excellent quality on all counts
Seeking activities to share with my 7-year-old during the 2020 lockdown, I have tried probably every gel pen available on the market: Sakura Gelly Roll, G2, Ink Joy, Slicci, Energel, Sparkle Pop, Zebra, Office Goods, Fiskars, ColorIt, Aen Art, Color Technik, Reaeon, Super Doodle, Crayola, Xuixua, etc. If you want to color with gel pens, Chromatek is the set to buy.Anyone who uses gel pens regularly has probably discovered that all of the large sets have nearly identical barrels, pigments, ink cartridges, 0.8-1.0 mm bold tips, and performance - they're all manufactured in the same region and probably the same factories in China. There are a few variable features competing distributors can choose from: the packaging, which specific colors to include, inclusion of a comfort grip and/or color codes on the barrel or cap, and whether refill packs are sold with the set and sold separately. The other variable which affects each brand is how long the pens are stored and whether they're stored and shipped properly. Gel ink is water-based and can dry out or degrade over time. Gel ink cartridges are sensitive to impacts like dropping and can develop air bubbles - if there are air bubbles in the ink cartridge, the pen won't work. There are a few higher-end gel pen sets available, such as Pentel Sparkle Pop and Gelly Roll, which have larger-capacity ink cartridges and tighter quality control than the large gel pen sets but the color selection is very limited with these brands. The best choices I've found for coloring are the packs of 50+ colors. These all have apparently identical housing and ink cartridges. Brands with refills included or zipper pen cases are marked up accordingly, but the performance of the pens tends to be the same: the ink will run out more quickly than markers or other coloring media, so pens without separate refill packs aren't worth it. Improperly stored pens will skip or fail to start - tapping the pen tip can help, and typically one or two pens need to be tapped in a set, but if more than a few pens don't start, the set is probably dried out. Pens with "neon" shades, particularly light greens and yellows, are often scratchier or don't work - there's something about inks made with these pigments which prevent them from flowing well. Pens sets which include a lot of these colors tend to yield a frustrating coloring experience.Several of the sets I've purchased were sent back because too many pens simply didn't work. The Chromatek set is the only one I've bought in which every single pen worked beautifully right out of the package. The colors selected are vivid and beautiful, and the ink flows freely. A refill set is included with the pens, and additional refills are available separately. The packaging is very functional and affordable, and actually works better than higher-end pen cases. As with every one of these pen sets, a few pens have plastic barrel and cap colors which don't match the ink exactly. With a clear plastic package and clear barrels, this isn't a problem - you just need to train your eye to look at the ink cartridge rather than the plastic barrel to choose your color. You can also easily make and insert a swatch chart right inside the packaging (pictured above).Chromatek nails it on all the optional features important to a set of gel pens: beautiful vibrant colors, pens that work right out of the package, reasonably priced with functional packaging, comfort grips and color codes on the barrel, and refills available separately and included with the set. These are the pens to buy.

Customer service was excellent
Update: I notified customer support and received a response immediately and issued a refund promptly. I'm hoping this was a one-off and will order again in the future. My pack of 50 Chromatek gel pens just arrived and I opened them immediately as I have a project I want to finish by Christmas. I began making a color card and was taking out each pen and really liked the colors and the ink flow. Until I got to pen G14. It looked completely empty until I removed the cap and metal tip and saw there was approximately 1 inch of ink. I was surprised so I turned the pack to look through the transparent back and saw several pens had very low levels of ink. Around 20-25% of them. I took photos as it looks like this pack could have been used and returned as the box of refills all had sufficient amounts of ink. I will be calling customer service and will update this once I've spoken to them. This pack was labeled as professional use and was fairly expensive for the number of pens, so I was surprised that the pens weren't of the quality I expected.

Beautiful Set of Pens with One Small Defect
I absolutely love the way these pens write. They are comfortable to hold and the the pens themselves feel very high quality. They write smoothly and the ink is very glittery. There are a nice variety of different colors and shades. They come in a great resealable case -- and they come with refills. The refills can also be purchased separately. The pens and the refills are clearly numbered for easy replacement. The only reason they don't get a five star review is because the clips on the pen caps are very fragile. I am very careful with my gel pens and I've had several of the clips break off just placing them in the case. I have not clipped them on anything else, pulled or bent the clips. Once the clips break off they do not stay in the case very well and tend to fall. Over all I would purchase them again because the ink is wonderful and the pens themselves seem to be high quality but if I do I will be putting them in a different container so that the clips do not break off of the caps.
