I once bought a fancy raclette and it was so difficult to use I gave it away. This one is perfect for me. Great on the deck for a sundowner snack (no electric required). I think if I were clever I could use it for things other than cheese. Pair it with a small charcuterie board and you have a hit.I play cards with a group of friends , long forks, variety of cheese and a small charcuterie board plus a lovely red wine and we almost forgot to play cards.

I've eaten Raclette for many years. I used to live in Germany, and I owned a Swiss Raclette melter. I also own one that I think is French which I purchased on Amazon several years ago after moving back to the US. However, it's kind of big to use when I'm just cooking for myself, so, when I saw this one, and it was on sale, I decided to give it a try.Everything arrived in good condition. I was a little skeptical that three tea lights would melt the cheese in 4 minutes. It did take just a little longer, but I decided to slice the cheese thinner, and it naturally melted faster. I was melting Fontina cheese rather than Raclette, because it's cheaper and more readily available. It could be that Raclette melts at a different rate. I was surprised how easily the cheese just slid off the melting pan. I didn't need to use the little wooden spatula that comes with the melter. Unlike the other Raclette melters I've owned, it heats the cheese from the bottom, not from the top. This means that you don't get the toasted effect with a slightly brown top surface. I kind of like the toasted effect, but the cheese often sticks to the pans in my other melter, which is really annoying. I can do without the toasted effect if I don't have to scrape cheese out of the pan to clean it.So, I'm glad I purchased this, and I can recommend it for one or two people. If you want to host a lot of people for Raclette, you'll need to get more than one of these or a larger Raclette melter.

This product works well for a single or two person Raclette dinner! Very user friendly and easy to take with me when moving (no electrical) as it utilizes candle heat!

I was introduced to raclette when my parents lived in Switzerland and immediately fell in love with the dish! At one time I owned three full size raclette machines! When I downsized, I gave my raclette machines away. This has been the perfect solution! I know the stamp on the pan bothers some people. Someone complained about the stamp making cleaning hard. I did not experience this. I'm am ready for raclette!

I have one of these from a different manufacturer and got this one for my mom for Christmas & it’s much nicer than the one I have! Simple to use and makes delicious raclette for one or two people. It takes a couple of minutes which just gives you an excuse to talk more and drink more wine ;)
