This sucker gets deeeeeep!
Heavy, yes, but not unbearable. Covers ground very quickly and it goes very very deep. Rule of thumb says the coil will detect about the same depth as its width or size. this coil goes way beyond 15 inches. I have found targets over 24 inches deep. This is a great coil and glad I have it in my arsenal. I would recommend this to anyone who want to either cover a lot of ground quickly or wants to go deeeep!

Centering is off but found my first 10K ring with it!
I took it back to the old farm house permission and it locked into a target in the 16 to 18 range. Said it was down 8". I dug and dug but even my Garrett would not sense anything! So I gave up but then attached my 11" to my Equinox 900 and went back over the hole. It said it was like 2-3" off centered compared with using the 15" coil. I dug down about 5" and came up with a 10K ring! It seems to center more along where the registration tag is on the top of the coil. (2" back from center) I have a garden test "bucket" I will do some centering testing with it.

It's not as easy to use as the smaller EQX coils, but after a a couple of days use.... I love it.
Just like many other products... the 15" EQX coil's effectiveness and value wasn't immediately obvious, afterall, I had been using the EQX 6" coil mostly and comparatively, the smaller coil is much easier to use. That said, if you detect large fields, or areas that have few to moderate amounts of targets the 15" EQX coil is a great asset. It has much greater coverage area because of its size and is still very sensitive to very small, good targets. I bought my 15" EQX coil through Amazon Warehouse in "like new" condition, must have been a return, and haven't regretted it one bit, just the opposite as a matter of fact. The one piece of advice I'd like to give, is to hunt by sound, once the coil sounds positively in both left and right swings... keep swinging side to side over the target as you walk the coil back towards yourself till the good sounding tone stops and then the target will be at the very tip of your coil. You can also pinpoint in both directions and dig at the intersection, but the previous method is effective and quicker. My depth of detection and area covered has been greatly increased. Just like anything else, if you are willing to put the time into learning the intricacies of the large coil verses the small coil, you can handle swinging the added weight, and you don't mind digging deeper plugs then you really need to consider adding the 15" x 12" EQX coil to your Minelab Equinox tools... maybe a bigger shovel too... My Lesche Sampson (shovel) sometimes leaves me wanting more.

Nice upgrade...
Was hesitant going to a larger coil. Wondered if a larger coil meant faster battery drain. My Minelab stock coil worked great, had no issues at all and was easy to maneuver. But detecting at the beach you need something bigger, there's a lot of area to cover. Took a few outings to get used to it but it works pretty good. I'm not sure I'd use it in tight places like in the woods, but I'd give that a try also.

I detect Florida beaches - ****revised review
I was on the fence about this coil for a while... after using it for a couple months, on the beach exclusively, I have warmed up to it. What I have found is that, yes, it can be noisy in certain places on the Florida Atlantic Coast beaches, but for the most park, I can control that noise, and in most places I have detected now, I am not having any problems. It's really become a valuable tool, I now own all 3 coils for the Minelab Eq 800, and how and when I use it depends on what I want to do. I gave it 4 stars because it's very nice, but not perfect, but I do highly recommend it for people who want to cover a lot of ground fast. (if they had 4 1/2 stars, that would be my rating)

Exceeded Expectations
First time out with the 15 inch coil and I couldn't be happier. I pulled coins from a place I've gone over with my 11 inch coil already and from my experience the 15 inch coil definitely gives you that extra depth and coverage the 11 inch coil can't give you. Like the title says, the 15 inch coil exceeded my expectations out in the field. 👍 The weight of the larger coil is negligible. Only drawback I could find is it's trickier using the pinpoint function with the larger coil, but I'll work on that with time.

You'll regret not buying it more.
If you're reading this most likely you have the minelab 800. The price is a little steep for this but if you're looking for those deep coins it's a must have. I swept areas that I beat to death with the stock coil and was able to locate sideways silver and deep colonial copper I never heard a blip on before. If you don't buy it you're going to drive yourself nuts thinking about all the targets you're potentially missing while you're out swinging this spring. Only downsides to this coil is it's not good in the water, too much drag and hard to pinpoint. Save the stock coil or get a 6" for underwater. It's a few ounces heavier but after a few hours you get used to it and won't notice the additional weight.

A must have in your arsenal.
Was detecting a Civil war era site and when you're in a site where you dig most all, this is great as it'll get iron objects a couple of feet deep. Seperation is great. I don't find a great increase in depth on smaller items, like coins over the stock coil, but I do on medium or larger iron items.
