Great product; applies to older model Hue Lightstrips
Jumped in and took the risk that I'd be able to splice-and dice for my split-cabinet install, so that I'd only need one controller (despite my fear of all things electrical). Note that this adapter model is for older Hue lightstrips; if you're buying a new lightstrip, like me, you need the new adapter: Direct-to-Controller Adapter for Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus (Hardwired Version, White). Once I got the correct adapter, was very easy to install, works great. You just need to have a basic sense of attention to detail and thoughtfulness (like matching colors to colors, keeping things oriented correctly, and matching color coding of ordering of wires on the lightstrip to color coding at the adapter). Easy peasy, and so much better than the mess of wiring on the old puck lights this replaced. Jump in and good luck!

Works exactly as advertised, cheaper than buying a whole new controller
This does exactly what I need them to - plug into the Hue light strip controller I already have, and let me add light strip extensions directly to the controller.I didn't realize when I moved that this part only comes with the base/controller and I'd need it to use the light strip extensions in the new place. Thankfully this wonderful item saved me almost $50. At first I was wary of giving it a shot because it's not directly from Philips, but once I plugged it in and the light strip extensions worked I knew I made the right choice.Sam

Works good
Works well. I have one wire that just seems to be a bit loose, but everything still works great and since this sit on top of a cabinet, it'll never move or get bumped so no worries. One tip, as pointed out in another review, there are two "red" connectors on the adapter and only 1 red wire coming out of the controller along with a brown (which has no corresponding color on the connectors). I followed the advise in the previous review, bright red connector to red wire and then brown wire to the slightly darker red with a dark line together. This worked perfectly without any issues. Could be clearer but not too hard to figure out.

Making Philips Hue even better
I have 6 Philips Hue light strips and controllers. Plus a *lot* of extension strips. I have purchased quite a few different LED light strips and the Philips Hue are by far the best. But, wiring them the way Philips intended would be very awkward, result in a lot of wasted strips, and way too many controllers being purchased.Along comes Litcessory. The Direct-to-Controller hardwired adapter allowed me to easily and quickly put a splitter in place. (The Litcessory splitters and extensions are great, too.) These allow me to maximize my investment in Philips Hue strips and controllers without breaking the bank. For the hardwired adapter, yes, you do need to snip the wire coming out of the controller, strip the wires, and insert them in to the Litcessory connectors. And, yes, it sounds scary as heck. And, yes, your heart will skip a beat the first time you snip the wire. But, it is not hard. If you have never snipped and stripped wires before, then just go really slow and steady. And pay attention when you plug the wires in to the Litcessory connections. I put on 6 of these puppies without a problem. Thanks to Litcessory for making Philips Hue even better!

Quality Could be Better
While I know the prongs need to be a certain size they are very weak and bend easily. Be careful when plugging these in as to not bending the prongs.

Not an adapter for Hue Lightstrip v3 to v4 (large 6-pin to small 6-pin)
I purchased these (expensive) cables because I believed they would work as an adapter between the v3 and v4. They clearly show the two different versions in one of their images (second picture) and then they show they connect the extension cable from the wide to the smaller one (in "Setup example 2" image). Why creating a third version of the pins that doesn't connect to any Hue Lightstrip and then show it does in your example? This is false advertising.

Excellent product when needing to use a splitter.
This product worked as it was supposed to. The only thing that was a bit confusing was the color coding on the connectors. The light strip base, once cut and stripped, has a brown wire. The adapter does not have a brown one. After a process of elimination there is a red one with what looks like a black line through it. Put the brown in that one and everything works just fine. Overall great product.

Provides what Philips Hue doesn’t! Flexibility
Allows unlimited flexibility with Philip’s Hue strips. Took one hub and lit an entire kitchen. Ran 6 foot extensions through walls. Allows for splitting. Great product! Very well made and priced right!
