Planer blades for the DeWalt 734
These are an aftermarket replacement for the DeWalt 734 planer blades and they are less expensive than the original equipment. First of all, never touch the edges of these blades; they are devilishly sharp and will do significant tissue damage without much encouragement. I replaced some well used original equipment blades with these blades and was very pleased with the revitalized planer performance. I planed some old rough-cut cherry with the new set of blades first and it was a joy. The wood surface came out "as smooth as silk". (It was some old, highly colored cherry.) I have just recently installed these blades so I am, so far, unable to comment on their durability of longevity. They installed perfectly in my machine. I recommend using a little lubricant on the retaining screws when they are re-installed. My screws were very tight and hopefully the introduction of a little oil will simplify the process next time. I plan on getting one or two more sets of these blades to keep on hand as this set wears down. So far, my comments are decidedly favorable.

Nice cheap alternative.
These fit my dewalt planner (DW734) perfectly and seem to be good quality. I haven't put them thru a real workout yet but they seem everybit as shard as the original blade were (until I over heated them planning a bunch of semi- green rough cut pine- oh the mess sap makes!) Love the nice plastic sleeve these come in. Also well wrapped in anti- corrosion papaer.

exceptional performance
I have been using these replacement blades for a few years now. I know some users resharpen these blades but I typically use them until the are dull, both sides, then replace them with new. It is really subjective and hard to measure, however, I just feel that these blades last a bit longer than the Dewalt blades. A lot is going to depend on the type and quantity of material you are putting through your planer at any one time. At worse they perform equally to the Dewalt and since the are between $5-$10 cheaper than the Dewalt they are extremely good value for money. Some reviewers say the quality has dropped but I have not noticed that at all over the 5 years I have been using these blades. Again, a lot depends on what you put through your planer at any given time and there is no guarantee another brand of blades would have performed better given the same circumstances.

Poor poor quality
Loved the price of these blades but completely disappointed with the quality/outcome. Purchased three sets of these and had the same results with all three. Was able to plane six boards (12”x20” each) taking an 1/8” off of each one combined between the three sets and nothing more. Maybe it was dumb luck but will never purchase these again.

A good alternative than some of the big dollar blades
A good alternative than some of the big dollar blades. That said i never liked disposable blades and will never buy another plainerthat uses them. Over the years I've spent more money on replacement blades than the plainer cost it self. That don't seem wright.good news is that you can learn how to sharpen them. It's not difficult and you can do it several times. That will save you allot.Just have to make a simple jig on the table saw. You can find out how on You Tube. Just Google "how to sharpen plainer blades"and your on your way.
