Paine's Box of 50 Balsam Fir Incense Refills Christmas Tree

I grew up with these incense sticks... they're not the most convenient form of incense (relatively hard to light), but they produce a smoky balsam fir scent that I've loved since childhood. They produce quite a bit of smoke, so I wouldn't use them in a small, enclosed area. In a reasonably open room, they'll make you remember Christmas.

This is one of those things that gen Z-ers just can't appreciate. A cozy warm abode in a fridgid winter setting, actual christmas music, and the unmistakable smell of a Paine's Balsam log smoldering in the rustic and charming log cabin. All this whining about "not being able to keep it lit" or "the smell is terrible" comes from those who will never understand how important this little piece of nostalga is to us boomers. Go vape your chemicals, and leave this one for the rest of us.

While it has a match underneath it, the incense burns and smells nice, though it competes with the odor from the match. Remove the match, watch the flame go out on the incense, the incense will smoke for maybe 30 seconds, and then it goes out. Hard to see how this company has been in business since 1931.

Sticks are a good size, but take some work to get burning correctly. They also smell a little like pot while burning, but this is my second brand and I’m starting to think maybe that’s just what balsam fir smells like. The lingering scent is exactly like a wood burning fire place!

I love this scent, it’s woodsy. Yes, you have to work a little to keep it going when you first start it, but it burns to the end. Well worth it for the smell and price.

The smell in the box ix heavenly, but when they burn the scent is not the same and just smells like a wood smoke. They will not stay burning even after you get a good coal going on tip, which also takes about 4-5 lights on a candle or match. They just keep going out. Definitely disappointed, and will never buy again.

This is wonderful as long as you enjoy the smell and don't have smoke allergies or breathing problems. I truly enjoy camping and this brings the camp scent inside.

I love the smell of a campfire. I purchased these and they won’t keep burning. Very frustrating. I will have to find a different brand
