Fantastic
I have to say I’m blown away by how good this phone is. I should point out that I’ve never had a particularly good phone before, previously having owned a Moto G1 then two consecutive Moto G6s. As you can see from that I’m not in the habit of changing my phone frequently. The reason I decided to buy a new phone now was because of the increasingly poor performance of the Moto G6 GPS.I’m not an average mobile phone user, I don’t spend my entire life dicking around with my phone. I use it to make occasional phone calls, send texts and more than anything else as a GPS when walking. I chose the Huawei Mate 20 because it has dual band GPS which is supposed to increase GPS accuracy by a factor of 2:1.I was a little wary of the Huawei EMUI interface but it’s not that far from stock Android really, especially EMUI 10, and is generally pretty unobtrusive and works well. The phone is lightening quick to do pretty much anything. I expected this level of processing power to be reflected in worse battery life, but I am amazed that I’m able to get 1 week’s use from a single charge! Yes people, I really do mean 7 days from a charge and it would last 10 days if I wasn’t using the GPS so much. The GPS is amazing, I get lock within a few seconds of starting up my mapping software. The accuracy is also very much better that the G6 was. The GPS Status app generally tells me that the GPS typically has a 4m uncertainty once it’s got 12 or 13 satellites. That’s probably fairly close to the limit of the current GPS system’s ability. The cameras are OK, all 3 rear facing ones. To be honest my requirements on this front are pretty high as I’m a keen photographer. If I can’t make an A3 competition quality print from the camera then it’s of limited use to me. I’ve not yet concluded whether that’s possible with this camera or not. It does focus very close so works very well for macro photography and the 17mm (full frame equivalent focal length) lens is useful for landscapes. My feeling is that the images suffer from excessive noise reduction at all but the lowest ISO settings, so they lack detail and sharpness, they tend to sometimes have a slightly odd colour cast too. I’m sure they’d be fine for a lot of things and under optimum conditions could probably make a decent print. One odd decision Huawei made is to use their proprietary format of memory card rather than using the industry standard uSD card. This isn’t a big problem, the nano memory cards are twice the price of uSD cards, so you’ll pay £40 for a 128GB card rather than £20. Not such a big deal really should you need to expand the memory. Personally, I don’t need to.The screen is superb, the finger print scanner is almost instant and did I say how good the GPS is? So, overall this phone has dramatically exceeded my expectations and I can’t recommend it strongly enough.I've since bought a second-hand Huawei Mate P20 Pro as a backup GPS as it's also dual band GPS. This is also a very good phone but if I’m honest I think in many ways it’s inferior to the Mate 20. The Huawei Mate P20 Pro is too narrow and the silly curved screen only detracts from the functionality of it. A definite case of aesthetics over functionality. The camera is a lot better on the Huawei Mate P20 Pro though so if that’ important to you it’s worth considering. I’d have to say though that as the Huawei Mate P20 Pro seems to be selling for almost £1000 on Amazon vs the Huawei Mate 20 costing £300 I know which I’d buy any day.So not only a fantastic phone but fantastic value too!

A great all-rounder, even in 2020!
As someone's who's not entirely appreciative of modern flagship grade prices, I decided to opt for this phone given its high ratings by a well known source, GSM arena.Software: this phone ships with android 9 pie, but then will update to the latest version of emui 10/android 10.regarding software, I'm personally more leniant towards other Emui than vanilla android, given I find it a bit dull. With Emui overlaying android 10, it feels as intuitive to use and play around with on a daily basis. I've had no issues so far with this. Though some may not appreciate this skin.Performance - with the kirin 980, this cpu is more than powerful enough to handle day to day tasks and using social media. It was 2018's flagship, but it is still very respectable in 2020 given in benchmarks it scores approx 405,000, which is equilavent to the likes of qualcomm 845 which esd featured in many flagship phones also. Although the gpu isn't chart topping as of now, it is still more than powerful enough to power through the most demanding tasks and games, such as fortnite which run smoothly on epic settings. Cos mobile also plays at maximum settings seamlessly. All in all I say this Is still a competitor in today's marketCamera - although on paper it may not seem promising that the 3 rear cameras don't have ois, which is well respected for night time shots, these cameras perform great. Daytime shots are as flagship level as they get (even for 2020), with great colour reproduction, contrsdt, dynamic range and detail. Night time scenes are also spectacular (most of the time). With huawei's dedicated night mode, this phone uses multi stacking to give you a very promising result. I say the cameras on board are certainly competitive and definetely beat the likes of many mid rangers.Battery - I had no issue getting though an entire day with this phone. With its impressive 4000 mah battery its endurance is great. If ever I need to charge my phone I can benefit from super charging, as its supported on this phone. Usually my phone can charge from 0-57% in just 30 minutes, which has made overnight charging rundandant.Display - its a vibrant lcd panel, which may be a caveat for some, but by all means should this display not dissuade you given this panel incorporates other high end technological features such as hdr 10+,dci-p3 and significantly higher brightneses in auto mode (780 nits), which translate to crisp visuals and surprisingly good blacks and whites. Colour accuracy is also something to mention, it's quite good for an lcd. Conclusion - all in all its a highly likeable phone with many features which translates into a well made and features packed device. It also packs extras which are fairly rare on the smartphone market such as an ir blaster, which comes in handy when I want to access the air conditioner. It deserves a recommendation from me.

This is supported for Google updates if your concerned.
On the whole this is an absolutely fantastic phone. The camera is amazing. The only reason it gets 4 and not 5 stars from me is the whole war between Americans and Huawei and the late response from Huawei. They should have done more to protect their customers.Facial recognition is a bit off. Doesn't really recognise me if I have glasses on or hair down. It shouldn't base it on one photo alone but a series of facial scans.Love all other attributes though.

Nice phone
Fast charging, nice screen and really good camera. Needs a case as the beautiful nickel finish is very slippery. All in all a good value phone.

Good value, very fast processor and durable battery.
Very nice phone but it is not like the Mate 20 Pro not wireless chargeable. But good in the way as the earset can be plugged in the phone while you are charging it with the wire charging adapter.
