Massively Disappointing
I was willing to forgive the first version of Madden for PS3 for having way less functionality than the PS2 version, but version two should have caught up. For basic playability there is improvement in running between the tackles and short passing. However, on the strategic front PS3 is a big step backwards. You can't do player substitution - that makes it inconvenient to platoon RB's and impossible to platoon at any other position or to have a "fast receivers" set. There is no way to disguise the zone or matchup CB's to WR's in a zone. There are very few audibles. Finally, and most exasperatingly turnovers are completely out of control. In a game with 10 minute quarters I am averaging 9 takeaways a game even with the interception slider at "5" out of "100".On the whole I can't recommend this game to anyone.

Better then 07 for sure
Madden NFL 08I pre-ordered this on Amazon, and when I got home from work on Tuesday it was already waiting for me in an Amazon box.Played against my little brother and so far so good. In-air collisions and using key players and many other new features make the game just much better then the 07 version. The graphics aren't so much better but it looks a little better.I looked up a review on Yahoo! and they said that the 360 version is better:"On the surface, the releases on 360 and PlayStation 3 look identical. However, when you stack them head-to-head, it's clear which is better. Madden on 360 is fast and fluid, thanks to a sharp jump in frame rate that allows the game to move twice as fast.PS3 owners, unfortunately, are greeted with a Madden that is sluggish in comparison. Action stutters far too often, particularly on injuries, penalties and turnovers. There's also a half-second delay between pressing the hike button and receiving the ball in your hands. Even close-ups between play look dull when lined up against the 360's sleeker cut scenes."My brother and I was wondering about the hike problem too because often we pressed the hike button too much causing us to throw the ball right away because we weren't sure if it hike or not until a half second later....... I can probably live with this but it is annoying. My friend is getting it for his 360, so I will try it out there and see if it truly is twice as fast and a lot better or not.I still don't understand why the play selections are the way it is, showing the other person the plays your picking. Need the old style where you just see X, O, Square below each plays. Or do the old school Blitz style and allow you to make the play selector disappear or something.

Not the same as the ps2 version
Ill start by saying that i purchased this game expecting to re-live my experience from my old ps2. But let me tell you, it is a completely different game. The graphics are worse, different main screen, aweful gameplay. If you are purchasing this expecting it to be the same as the ps2 version, dont buy it.

Rose Bowl
Good condition and reminded me that Vince Young had potential. What a jerk, the Dolphins could use him.

Massively UnderWhelming
This does not deserve any 1 star reviews (think people- "Big Rig Racing" Is 1 star quality)This does get a 2 star rating from me. Here's whyThe Pros:- A fairly accurate representation of American Football & The NFL.- Good Soundtrack- Player equipment is varied (aka; More realistic) from PC/PS2 Versions- Graphics are better than PS2 & PC Version- I prefer the control scheme on the PS3 over the other versions.- All 32 NFL teams are there (I'm not joking: on Madden 2003, one of the features listed on the back was "Featuring the all new Houston Texans NFL Team!")- Best PS3 Madden to date. The Cons:- Donte Stallworth, Michael Vick, Plaxico Burress.. Oh wait, wrong type of con.- Franchise mode is significantly worse than PS2/PC version (It's striped, beaten, & destroyed)- Game commentary is next to non-existent (I'd rather have broken commentary than barely none at all). No Madden, Michaels, Collingsworth- just some random guy who barely says anything. He basically repeats what the PA announcer says.- Graphics don't live up to PS3 Standards (It looks good, but it still looks like a video game)- Online servers taken down after a while so you can't play online anymore.- Rosters are (as they've always been) Horrible & inaccurate.- (Maybe its my sound settings) The game feels lifeless. for the PC, the fans are loud, the commentary is there, it feels like football with all it's guts & glory. For PS3, It feels like football in name only- "Create a Player" gets harder (More/less customization options plus a free agent limit without the ability to delete players makes it impossible to update rosters by yourself)- Games have no pre-game intro (they had this back in Madden 2005-- why was it taken out?) Halftime shows, Cheerleaders, post-game recaps, and many other features missing that have been in past versions.- There are approximately 300 or so player faces in the PS2/PC versions, there are about 50 in the PS3 version, players don't look like their real-life counterparts-No good roster updates, modding ability, or customization options that you see on the PC version.-Referees look & sound the same since 2003 & there are hundreds of penalties in the NFL not in this game.-Weapons are not a feature, more of a burden.-Game play is repetitive & scripted due to the non-physics engine way Madden is-One of the few football games I've ever seen that has rubber-banding issues (your in an insurmountable lead and somehow the CPU comes back.)-Vince Young on the cover. Really? Vick, okay, Lewis, Okay, McNabb, sure, Alexander, maybe, but Vince Young? In 2007?!?The Cons clearly outweigh the pros. Even if you have a sub-par PC, just get it for that instead of the PS3 version. Or if you don't have a PC, get the PS2 version. I think even the Gamecube version is better than this.
