Auguries of Innocence: Poems is a fantastic collection of pomes by Patti Smith. I highly rcomend this book of her pomes to anyone who love great classic poetry. I have started to listen to her and her band rekindaling that great feeling I got when I listen to her works.Branded The Queen God Mother of Punk Rock Patti never fails to give the reader or listener a great expeiance! Her songs and poetry are great paintings on a often times bleak canvas. Patti's art is a breath of fresh air. If you have never looked into her before do yourself a favor buy this book.Rick Glenn

Because I have read nearly all of Patti Smith's memoirs and loved their poetic style, it would stand to reason that I would enjoy this book of poetry. The equation is a bit different when someone is writing actual poetry rather than an essay suffused with poetic writing. Although the results are uneven, I still celebrate this book.Certainly, it overflows with a variety of subjects: childhood memories, eulogies, Christian references, commentary of war, artistic and literary figures, and more. Smith hits some high points. For instance, "The Mast is Down" floats expertly between body image, sea, and sky.

Patti Smith is an amazing writer!

This book was very well written. Some of the poems were beautiful. Some of them were very aggressive and scary. However, I wish to have this book on my bookshelf one of these days. I would reconsider reading this book again, and would recommend this book to those who like Patti Smith.

I love these poems definitively a must have. a lot to discover in these poems it takes you to different places as you read.

Patti's writing, both credible and competent, structured far more conventional than I expected, reading more like an homage to tradition than a confrontation towards form.
